What a thrilling Championship series. EW gained a lot of respect for the way they played all year and the way they competed in the championship.

Hat's off to Lake Norman for an unbelievable cinderella ride. The itty bitty buddies found a way to win. It's something they will remember the rest of their lives.:kid:

    Congratulations To Lake Norman:3A Champs!

Well, tj21, what you said about Lake Norman was right on the money.
They are a really good defensive team, hit the ball hard 1-9, & excellent pitching! Every pitcher they brought in was hitting 85 on the radar gun. You had to hit the ball to beat them, which Eastern Wayne almost did. I watched both games today & each one was different. First game, won by Eastern Wayne, was a pitchers duel between Lake Norman's Scottie Williams & Wayne's Zach Mozingo. Mozingo left the game in the fifth having only given up 1 hit. John Wooten handled the pitching chores the rest of the way. Second game was for the hitters. Both teams battled with the bat wth Lake Norman emerging at the end with 1 more run and the championship! Eastern Wayne rode the arms of Wooten & Mozingo today in both games & you could tell both were tiring in the 2nd game. Lake Norman's pitching staff doesn't let up on you & you could sense that Lomo was needed at the end to finish it off, which he did. This championship was played between 2 very good ballclubs! :cheers2:

Congratulations to Lake Norman! 3A State Champions!:trophy:

karl, I didn't have Lake Norman rated at the top of the NPC at the beginning of the year, honestly I was thinking East Rowan and Mooresville, but I knew LN was good for a win AGAINST ANYONE whenever Lomo pitched. I did know about Ross Whitley (Catawba) and I knew LN had some sticks,,, but when I saw a tall lefty junior named Scottie Williams throw a 1-hit shutout on West Rowan, I knew then that LN had enough gas in the tank to go all the way. I was very impressed with this team because those boys very rarely ever made mistakes and they just played the game hard every night. They also had great fans, and I know right now somewhere LKNbaseballfan is dancing in the streets in his speedo :whoosh:.

Some people who are involved say this kid is this and another kid is all that, and when you see them they just aint. But my sons are both grown and done playin, so I'm totally neutral,,, and I just got sold on LN the more I saw them.

Btw, I enjoyed our talks back and forth this season, you were pretty right on the money too. Wish I could've made at least one of these games this weekend, sounds like this series was baseball at its best. Again congrats to the East Wayne boys for their great season too.
