LEGION GAMES

I know that this is very late to be trying to find Legion games, but I still figured it would be worth a try. American Legion in Rocky Mount has become much better over the last few years. Last year the team made a great run, they won Area 1 Championship and participated in the state championships. Our Area would really love to make it where Legion is a priority of our kids. We want our kids to be like the kids out West who chose to play in their own back yard instead of elsewhere. We want our College guys to want to come back just like they do in the West. With all this being said we would love to have the opportunity to play Rowan County, Shelby, Cherryville, etc. We want to come to your place and let our kids and fans see what Legion baseball is all about. If there is anybody that drops off of your schedule or has to cancel please give us a call. If you would private message me I would love to give you our contact information.

 

I do not think you will be seeing that happening in Wilson County....wanting to play Legion ball there starting at the junior legion level. It is too political with one school's players favored over the individual athlete competing. I think that is why you will continue to see the the growth of travel ball and showcase teams. You have to have the talent to compete and play on that level and that is it. It does cost more but you know you are paying for a reason.

 

Britt, awesome post man and best of luck to you guys. I am taking a plunge into the Babe Ruth world this summer to see how that goes but you know my where heart is.

to bad about Wilson legion ball, years back they really had a good thing going. if their coaches favor one school or the other I can see the problem. shame they can't find coaches with no allegiance one way or the other. showcase ball is expensive and there is always someone more interested in making a profit than helping the guy that is just below the big time player. the way i see it the big time players dont need showcase as much as showcase needs them. if you know what i'm saying. good luck Rocky Mount in finding games

 

Don't let a few sour grapes fool you!! American Legion baseball (junior and senior) is alive and well in Wilson! Look for both teams to be very competitive this season.

Thanks for all the help and the PM's that many of you have sent. We have been able to get a DH at Shelby on Sunday and have another possiblity for Saturday if we can afford it. What can we expect at Shelby? I know that the Stadium and team are awesome. Hope we get a chance to play in front of a good crowd.

 

We are not Wilson I am speaking for Rocky Mount Post 58. I can tell you that Wilson is expected to be good this summer. They had 2 teams in that area meet in the 3rd round of the playoffs and Wilson Hunt is now playing tonight in the 4th round. There is a lot of talent in Wilson. I can't speak for politics but I can tell you that Rusty Dail and Parker Davis are very dedicated to that legion program and to winning.

 

You can expect a talented team with passionate fans. You can also tell the coach that you are getting a preview of the World Series facility before you return in August to play in it.
