The Hendersonville Times News, in the past, has always done a good job of covering our legion team. Almost nothing this year. We have a new coach and I think the record is around 9-3 (the most successful in years), so you would think there would be some coverage.

Ah, yes, the good ol' Time (to) Snooze. I worked almost my entire previous career at that rag up in Asheville. I am so glad I'm out of that business. And poor old Stan Pamfilis is trying to cover everything from Marion west and minor league and big league in three minutes on WLOS. They even cut back the Friday Frenzy show during football season. That's the only part of the show I really even watch, because like the newspapers, I really don't know if what is being reported is actually what happened.

Brad Smith hit a three-run home run and Matt Rizzuto added a triple and 3 RBIs as Pleasure Island Post 129 defeated Warsaw Post 127 12-1 in American Legion baseball Tuesday.

Pat Oakes hit a solo home run for Warsaw (2-5)

Michael Callahan pitched eight innings to pick up the win for Post 129 (7-0)

The Caldwell - Asheville game was lackluster to say the least. Only bright spot for Asheville was Robert Kisiah going 3-4 at the plate and Scott Russell coming in to pitch for I think only the second time this season and without any warm up. Both teams were not ready to play, especially Asheville which basically gave the game away in the first three innings. Good try on the double play that almost ended the inning. I will say that the outfielders did stay out onthe field!
