    I'll add some names:

    Mecca 8:

    Dan Woodall- Hopewell- catcher
    Dusty White- Hopewell- 1st B
    Zack Rosenbaum- North Meck- P
    Robbie Bray- Independence- P

not familiar with Central Cabarrus...somebody help out here

    Sw4A:

    South Meck
    David Rubenstein- .420 avg OF
    Wes Borden- .440 avg 2nd B
    Elliott Arrington- 1st B...MVP

    Providence
    Chris Ahearn- SS

    Butler
    Greg Garmon- 1st B

    East Meck
    Blake Gehringer- 1st B

    Myers Park
    JJ Rollins- catcher
    Jeremy Mathis- P

    Olympic
    Casey Claphan (sp)- 3rd B

    Waddell
    Brad Rhine- P/SS

SW4A Conference Player of the Year----Kyle Shelton

Leadoff hitter batting over .550. Simply the best shortstop in the state...including Josh Horton. Kyle's ability is closer to Ozzie Smith of any HS fielder I have ever seen. He makes all the hard plays and even more important...makes all the routine one's as well. Kyle Shelton adds the flavor to the South Meck drink.

I would like to see Shelton play. Horton is the real deal. I have played against Horton since Junior Legion and this guy is bigtime. I look forward to playing/pitching against him this summer in Legion ball, if the draft doesn't snag him up in June. UNC has two good shortstops in those guys from what it sounds like.

Jere-- I am no way slighting Josh Horton. He is the real deal and will probably go in the top 3-4 rounds...but Shelton? This kid is unreal...even Impact rates him the best defensive SS in the state and strongest arm, also.

Josh has him with the bat, but I don't believe there is any amateur anywhere in this region who can top this kid defensively...he is simply amazing!! Think Omar Visquel and you will have a pretty good picture of the kind of plays he makes effortlessly and routinely! It's worth paying just to watch him play...

Hahahaha...but if I mentioned his name, most would never have heard of him...plus most of the players already think I'm prehistoric :D

But, Belanger was the BEST defensive SS, but absolutely the worst bat

Sorry for taking this thread into a different direction, but something either people don't know or may have forgotten. When Ozzie came up with the Padres, he was traded by the Padres for what they thought was a better SS...Garry Templeton...and people wonder why the Padres back then were terrible
