Below is an article from Limestone's website, Asst Coach Amy Yates heading to Pfeiffer Univ as Head Coach. It was only a matter of time as Coach Yates has helped Limestone win back to back regular season conference titles. Congrats Coach Yates!

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Limestone College Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Mike Cerino have announced that assistant softball coach Amy Yates has been named the next head softball coach at Pfeiffer University. Yates earns her first head coaching position following three seasons as an assistant under longtime Saints head coach Jimmy Martin.

“We are definitely going to miss her” said Martin. “She has been away from us for only a year out of the last eight and she has been a vital part of what we have accomplished at Limestone. She is ready to become a head coach and I am very proud of her for getting this opportunity. She is going to do well at Pfeiffer and I think it is a very good job for her”.

A key member of the Saints softball program for the better part of a decade, she has been instrumental in the development of Saints softball since she arrived on campus in 2003. One of the most accomplished players in the history of the program, Yates played for Limestone from 2003-06, bursting onto the scene earning Freshman of the Year honors in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference.

That season also marked the first of three straight All-Conference First-Team selections and a Second-Team honor following her senior year. In addition to the regular-season accomplishments, Yates was also named to the 2004 and 2005 All-Tournament Teams.

One of the most devastating offensive players in Saints history, Yates is currently ranked in the top-five in the program for games played, hits, triples, home runs, RBIs, runs and stolen bases and is the all-time leader with 56 doubles.

“It’s been a tremendous honor to be a part of the softball program at Limestone, both as a player and a coach” said Yates. “I’ve been able to learn a lot about the game of softball and life in general from some wonderful mentors, and I will be forever grateful for the experience and the opportunity I had here”.

Following her playing career she served as an assistant coach at Newberry College in 2007 with tremendous results. During her time there, Yates helped to lead the Wolves not only to their first winning season in a number of years but to a program record-tying 34 victories.

She then returned to Gaffney, S.C. to serve as an assistant at her alma mater. Her time at Limestone College as a coach was no less successful than when she was a player as she helped to guide the team to consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season titles in 2009 and 2010. Last season she helped the Saints to a program record 40-win campaign and coached the 2010 Co-Pitcher of the Year in Leah Quant and All-Tournament selections Mallory Kuykendall, Emily Wallace and Lauren Myers.

Yates replaces Jessica Clack and takes over a Pfeiffer program that went 21-29 overall last year and 9-11 in Conference Carolinas.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me but I wish Limestone the best of luck and know the program will continue to grow and head in the right direction in the future” concluded Yates.

Congrats to Coach Yates! It's a big loss for Limestone, but a bigger gain for Pfeiffer. Best of Luck!
