Now that the High School season is over, AAU season is not that far away. Who are some of the local talent playing AAU this season, and for which teams?

The local Burke Jammers 15u AAU team is a returning state runner-up and played in Nationals last season. They boast a strong talent pool including:
    from :
TC Roberson: Pooh Dunbar and Alexis Poplos
Freedom; Ali Ford, Olivia Surratt, Andrea Mull, Kristen Pearson
    East Burke: Madylyne Ross
Newton Conover: Taylor Deal and Betsy Gaither
not sure who else they may have picked up.
They are Coached by Ali Ford's father Rob , who is a vice-principal at Freedom.
The Hickory Express are the returning 15u state champs (beat the jammers by 3 in last year's final), with Several Hickory High players including: Karsyn Jarrett, Kellie Harrow .

I've also heard rumors that some McDowell girls were wanting to join a program.

Does anybody know anything about whats going on at McDowell today? I was told girls from all around the state were coming to Marion to participate in 5 on 5 competitions. To me it sounds like something similar to the Shrine Bowl Combines that the football players to go. From what I've heard college scouts are here in town checking out potential prospects.

The girls split up and played pick up games of 5 on 5. Something similar to this took place at Freedom last week as well. It is sort of like the Shrine Bowl combine but there was no timing going on, such as 40 times or anything like that. No vertical leap measurement from what I heard. There were a few college scouts, but none were Div. 1. It is counted as a visit if DI coaches come so none were able to attend. I know Montreat and Catawba were there. Each school is able to send 2 players to each event.
