    MAC Conference first round play in game between North Buncombe and Smokey Mountain was won by North Buncombe by a score of 4 to 3.

    Friday - 5pm Enka vs North Buncombe
    5pm Franklin vs Asheville High

    7:30pm Erwin vs Tuscola
    7:30pm T.C. Roberson vs East Henderson

    Saturday 2pm Winner of Enka/North Buncombe vs winner of Erwin/Tuscola
    4:30pm Winner of Franklin/Asheville High vs winner of Roberson/East

    Monday 6pm - Championship Game

    These games are being hosted by Smokey Mountain in Sylva.

    Franklin 6-0 win over T.C. Roberson

    Bad luck for TC today as their starting pitcher Courtney Hudson was hit on her left ear and jaw today by a stray ball during warmups...She had to go to the ER but she just had a laceration of the inner canal of the left ear. CT Scan was negative. She will be back to pitch in the first round of the playoffs for TC...Great new for TC and Courtney.

    Enka 10-1 over Erwin

    Enka brought their "A" game today...certainly was a lot better to watch than yesterdays game.

    Enka VS Franklin in the finals Monday at 6pm in Sylva

    Except for the freak accident to Courtney Hudson, which could easily be blamed for the Franklin shutout of TCR Saturday, and one blowout Friday, this has been a fun tourney to watch.

    While the offenses haven't been shabby, the defenses have been outstanding. TCR's centerfielder (Saturday) and Erwin's rightfielder (Friday) made two of the best catches you will see anywhere. East Henderson's shortstop was nearly flawless, especially on two very tough backhand plays and throwouts, and she nearly nabbed the game-winning line shot Friday night as it just went off the end of her glove. Enka's second baseman made, as usual, a great diving play on Friday. And, there were plenty more. TCR's AD even made a one-handed grab in foul territory that brought the crowd to its feet. Great stuff to watch.

    The North Buncombe - Enka game Friday was Coach Fred Ray's last high school game as coach. Hats are off to you, Coach Ray, for always handling yourself with dignity and fielding a competitive team. We will miss seeing you on the sidelines. Here's hoping he stays involved with softball in the area.

    Hats off as well to TCR for picking themselves up and playing as well as possible under the circumstances Saturday. Courtney's injury must have had a big impact on the squad and their grit and character showed by never giving up even though their leader and top pitcher was in the ER. (After thorough exams and a CT scan, she was deemed medically okay.)

    The mood around the park was great. Parents, players and fans were having a good time all around. Now, if the 2A conferences will follow suit, we could see lots more great softball next post season.

    Congratulations to the AD, Si Simmons, and staff from Smoky Mountain High. Excellent job of maintaining the fields and making folks feel welcome.

    seriously though..............having fun with NC State graduation and all but sounds like i missed some great ball this weekend :D

    1st ever MAC 3A Conference Tournament

    Enka 1-0 over Franklin

    Tough contest for both teams. The catcher for Franklin knows these batters so well and she handles her pitcher even better. Lacey Waldroop....Thank you for the memories....
    Enka manufactured the run that they needed and Katie Blankenship and the defense got them the win.

    Enka goes to 24-1 on the season.
    Next Game is Thursday at home against St. Stevens....5:30pm

    Hey EnkaJet04-
    Have you seen anything about the conference tournament in the Asheville paper? I haven't even seen it mentioned, not even a boxscore.
    I thought they would at least report the score of the championship game, but I haven't seen anything. I'm glad we have TBR to keep us informed! :laugh1:

    I have looked all over the paper and nothing was called in apparently. Since this was the first fastpitch tourney ever in the MAC you think they would cover it????? How about you '04??? :banana: :huh:
