Madison Bumgarner coming to Hickory

    Former South Caldwell High pitcher Madison Bumgarner is expected to pitch later this month in Hickory.

    Bumgarner, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound left-hander taken with the No. 10 pick in last year's amateur draft by San Francisco, has been assigned to the Giants' Class A team in Augusta (Ga.).
    The GreenJackets play in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division. They will play the Hickory Crawdads eight times this season, with all eight games at L.P. Frans Stadium. Bumgarner was scheduled to be the GreenJackets' opening day pitcher against Greensboro on Thursday night, but was moved to No. 3 in the pitching rotation to line him up to pitch when Augusta visits the Crawdads on April 23-25.

    he better have his sharpie ready!

    I remember when Josh Hamilton played his first game in Burlington. He stayed and signed autographs and talked to old friends until about midnight. They kept the lights on for him on the field.

    I predict

    A major traffic jam on the 321 bridge from caldwell county to crawdads stadium. Hope he pitches on a night when there are no high school games in the area so all the boys can see one of their own "Living the Dream".:fan_wave2:

    Madison pitched 3 innings in his Pro debut today. He gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and struck out 6. I am sure he will get much better.

    It is a differant world at that level. He will get his groove as the season moves forwarded.

    Look forward to seeing Madison.....I know he is having a great time. Ryan is assigned to Lake County which is also in the South Atlantic League.

    Lake County plays Augusta in Augusta July 20 - 23.....Braves, if Madison and Ryan end up starting on the same night we need to fire up the TBR Bus and make a road trip.:N1yeeaah:
