I doubt he will be working anymore WC games:). But I do have one question. If he did warn them twice before, doesn't the coach shoulder some of the responsibility? I already stated this is a silly rule, but the penalty far exceeds the deed

If I were the coach of SC, I would forfeit the game back to WC.

That's about the dumbest thing I've heard since George Brett's "pine tar" homer. At least they had the sense to overturn that one and complete the game. Sounds like an ump looking for his 15 minutes of fame. The best umpires are the ones you never notice.

Don't believe anyone said there was a warning!!!:umno:

But if there was, then the Coach would be at fault. As stupid as this rules sounds, a rule is a rule.

Don't know of any Coaches that would let that happen though.

DownSouth since you were at the game did the umps warn the players and was there two earlier homers?

I have been told by umpires in our games this year that the point of the rule is to eliminate the celebrations that come after homeruns that can be embarrassing to the team giving them up. As long as the players stay outside the hitting circle and don't crowd home plate, and do nothing to taunt or bait the opposing team, then they will allow them to give "high fives" and congratulate players on bombs. I guess I had better warn my team to stay back, but I do not allow or tolerate any unsportsman like behavior from my players. They must show class. Too bad the game had to end in that way, I agree that this is bad for the fans!!

BTW... Were they ejections or disqualifications, there is a difference, ya know, DQ's are only for the current game, ejections mean suspensions for the next 2 games. Somebody better check on that or the JV team may have to play the next 2 varsity games. I would call Que Tucker at the NCHSAA, or the Booking agent for umpires and get this thing straight.

Now, if the team had been warned twice before, then the coach should have made them stay in the dugout.
