Thanks for others weighing in on this issue...Honestly, I'm not sure about the extra bunting/slapping with the bases moved back. You don't see much of that in baseball, so maybe the speed of the throws from 3B over-compensates for the extra 10' to run, and therefore it makes it more difficult to do. Sounds like a math/science problem for you high schoolers. But you are right, you would have to bring the corners in for the speedsters....Getting the pitching distance back will help with the offense (18K's, 20K's ? - that leaves 1-3 outs made some other way than strikeout), and I may be the only one out there who believes this, but I think the larger infield would also. And no, I'm not even close to a liberal. But I do pay attention to what others say about the game, even those who have watched it and don't like it. Even the announcers on ESPN this weekend called it a "pitcher-dominant" game. Maybe that's OK with the softball crowd. I just happen to believe we could make it better. LDFRDGUY would like me to shut up about it, but I'm just trying to open up conversation, and that's what makes TBR what it is. I'm willing to be wrong about it.

It doesn't make sense to make radical changes to the game based on the capability of the elite players/teams. They are a small percentage of the total number playing the game. Changes to the game should be based on how it will affect average teams playing each other. 43' may be good, a larger infield may not.

" quote " But I do pay attention to what others say about the game, even those who have watched it and don't LIKE it. ANSWER- If you don't like it watch something else but for the most of us we think softball is very exciting, if 10 runs are scored or 1 run. Last night 6-3 with two very good pitchers, goood batters hit them and did it without moveing the bases back or the pitcher back. Two OF THE BEST 4A TEAMS OUT THERE !:bonk:

I'll admit to being a bit surprised by that score, as well as the 9-6 Hopewell/N. Meck score. I guess it happens to all of them once in a while. And by the way, I'm trying to break you out of your "holy huddle" of softball junkies. If you always view it from the inside, you won't even notice what's going on around you, and your fan base will stay stagnant or reduce over time.

    FANS

Well me and my softball junkies had a hard time seeing the ND-CC game last night because of fan base reduction :rolleyes5: It was about three deep around fence, all stands were full, out field fence was full. Sounds like somebody like softball even with all it's flaws :rolleyes5: By the way, those pitchers throw in mid 60s, from 40' and both got hit. Maybe you should rethink your thoughts unless like I said before your trying to even it up a little more for the lesser talented teams or the ones that don't work as hard to get to the level of the ND AND CC'S. That wouldn't be fair to the girls who put in the time and hours.
