Matt Crump

I was standing on the grass bank above Wingates field Saturday watching the catchers throw down to second base. Of course when Matt Crump's turn came up I was pulling for this young man to have a good showing. Why? Well I pull for all the kids to show well but especially for kids like Matt. First of all I have watched him play several times this summer and fall and I think he is a heck of a player. And he is an outstanding young man. As I stood there another dad came up to me and asked me if Matt had any opportunities yet. I said I was not sure but for the life of me I couldnt believe he was still on the market. Well he is not anymore. Impact Baseballs Site announced today that Matt Crump is heading to Wingate!! Wingate in my opinion got one of the top catchers in NC as well as one of the best baseball players Congrats to Matt Crump from Butler HS.

 

Not only did Wingate get a great catcher and player, they got a great kid with a nice family. Congrats to Matt and his family!!!

 

Projectability?

Crump is a hard working kid. He's one of those kids that is not even close to his potential yet. He has a lot of upside. Right now he's a High School hitter but he'll get smarter and more polished as he gains experience. He has a quick release and handles pitchers pretty well. Wingate will likely have to "re-recruit" Crump before it's over.

 

Congratulations to Matt Crump. He has been one of my favorite players to watch this summer and fall. Wingate University's baseball program has just gotten even better.
