Max Fulginiti- an amazing hitter

    Imagine this..the state BA record in American Legion was set by NC State star Matt Camp in 2002 at .545. In the history of AL batting averages, only 7 players have batted over .500.

    After Max finished the regular season, his average was .697...yep, that's right....697. That is insane!!!!!! In HS, this past season playing for Charlotte Christian, Max set a record with 62 hits.

    This young man is the Hitting Machine.

    These were for the American Legion Area IV records, I'm not sure they keep State records, but the kid has done well and the family is very happy for him... and Coach Bando cracked a smile with Gantner and Max reporting to HPU in a few weeks.

    We have to thank the Gaston Gazette for doing such a good job following and promoting American Legion baseball. They compiled the original results and published them in a Sunday paper. The Observer also did a really good job developing the story. I hope it helps get some local fans out to Game #2 tomorrow night at SMeck HS @ 7PM!

    Cherryville, with good reason, takes their baseball very seriously! It will be a battle and a great fan turnout would definitely boost Post 337.

    Geeez Mike...I like my story better. Since when have I ever let facts get in the way of a great story :D

    I think if the Post 337 concession stand had pinot grigio and cheese plates we'd get a better turnout
