McDowell 78...Mitchell 40

    27-7 first period by the Lady Titans ended it in a hurry...McDowell was lead by Emily Lovik's 15 point performance. Aimee Kiser had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Anna Atkinson had 9 points, 10 steals and 8 assists. Laeesha Corpening had 8 points, 5 assists, 3 steals. And Akendra Brown had 10 points, 3 rebounds 3 assists and steals.

    This McDowell squad is a different team that last years. It's all about forcing the tempo. McDowell pressed full court, or laid a sufficating half court trap on the Lady Mountaineers, Mitchell could not advance the ball up court. 15 turnovers by Mitchell in the first period, and only hit 2 of 7 shots the entire period. Meanwhile, McDowell shot a blistering 63 percent from the field, mostly layups.

    next game for the Lady Titans is the home opener Wednesday night against Enka.

    Sure is a bad way for Mitchell to start the defense of their 2A State Championship. Dont now they wished they had Emily Paffrath.
