nw4a - people dont be surprised but what iam going to say may knock a few of you off your rockers. mcdowell titans and i will say it again mcdowell titans. new coach alex smith did a wonderful job with jvs. taking over for a has been coach. he has already helped two players into playing college ball. south caldwell is down lost two great pichers, this opens the door for watuga, at least you would think so. smith, and the titans have a great chance to come in second in the confrence. and with some luck and good coaching maybe win it. titan baseball could be turning the corner. . good luck coach smith.

You're a baseball scout? I've never met one that took side shots at a coach...at least not in a public forum. Please, support your team, but not at the expense of others. This is not the type information or conversation that is enlightening.

bbscout. I guess if you compare this years SC from last year team to last years they are down. But don't think they will be down that much. They could go thru the conference undefeated. I think Wat. will be their toughest challenge Pitching will be fine with Messer, Penny and Poarch. Been hearing some very good things about Penny. Won't have the powerful offence of last year but still plenty of offence to win with

what do you mean never been before? from 95-2002 mcdowell was one of the better baseball programs in the state. they won conference in 95, 2001 and 2002 with a handful of all state players. 2001- 2002 teams played in third round of the playoffs both years-i agree coach smith will do a great job but you cant expect what your asking for in the first year.....

Your right great, we have had some very good teams but I think the program is about to take off. We have some great talent and Coach Smith is going to do great things with it. I know that the players and coaches are excited. Coach Smith has made it clear that he expects to win the conference. Look for a big year.

oh i def agree. def want everyone excited about the changes that are going on and its a great thing for mcdowell. but sc and watauga are two very well coached and just overall good ball clubs. i dont think until the titans prove that they are better, we dont need to come on here and pick them to go from the cellar to first in a drop of a hat thats all. you dont develop championship teams over night. smith will make this club a winner. i want the best for mcdowell- just have to be realistic at the same time thats all.

I have to agree somewhat. I watched many of the young Titans play this summer for Burke Post 21. They have 2 solid pitchers returning and some quality infielders and some quality sticks. I look for them ot make a big leap in the standings and also have another solid summer.

ASKING TO WIN IS THAT TO MUCH OR SHOULD WE ASK HIM TO LOSE

you guys have to remember he has had all these players they have all played for him. its not like he is getting thrown to the fire. he has been involved in the lives of these kids as they came through the ranks. he has not only coached the jvs hes also been involved with the varsity.i dont think iam asking to much, thats what has been wrong from the start. if you dont ask that out of your coach and dont have high expectations your not going to succeed. this is no longer kiddie ball, you have the oppurtinity to take these kids, and mold them into good players and to gel them together as a team. if you asked coach smith i bet he would not be happy or successful unless he finishes first. WHATS WRONG WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS. IF YOU CANT STAND THE FIRE GET OUT OF THE DAM KITHCHEN.
