Thanks Bigdan, I hope you keep us posted on who wins these games, so we will know how things are shaking out for the playoffs! Also how about the SW4A conference? Got their brackets?

Before I make some predictions, I would like to say that I wish we had more people from Charlotte on the boards this year. The Charlotte.com board people from Charlotte seem to have disappeared, and only a couple people have post on this message board. If there are any people from Charlotte out there reading this, feel free to sign up and give us some insight on what's going on down in the city.

okay, looking at the brackets, the 4/5 matchup could go either way. Vance has been struggling lately, but they have enough talent out there to make a run in the tourney. You have to remember, this team represented the west in Chapel Hill last year. Hopewell, being the host of the MECA 8 tourney, you have to give them a fair shot at winning the tourney. They'll have to win tomorrow and play good against Indy in the semis. Hopewell has a lot of shooters who can produce, including Amber Holt, Merideth Legg and Carli Strickland. When they're hot, they can play with any team in Charlotte. They don't have much inside play, and like to get a lot of their points in transition.

In the other games, I think Harding Univ will beat Central Cabarrus. Shamica Bollar (sp?) is a good player that has a lot of potential over the next couple years. I got to see her back during Christmas, she can run. If she had some better talent around her, she could really be good. West Charlotte, the #2 seed, seems to have lost a lot of steam when they loss Kisha Granberry for the season. Ashley Rivens will continue to produce for them, but they're gonna need someone else for them to win the tougher games. They should be okay against North Meck, speaking of North Meck, they have LaPorsha Lowry. She is a project that could be a key factor in any potential upsets.

Im going to be honest with everyone...Vance does in fact have the talent, ability and heart to beat INDEPENDENCE. They've met 2 times this year. The first time they lost by 4 in overtime, 2nd time they lost by 2 with bad refereeing (on both ends) and a pair of free throws. Vance shouldnt have lost to them either of times. I think that Independence needs to bring their A-game, and not just LaQuita Owens. And for Vance-Dawson, Stywalt, and Coote are going to have to be real productive. Dawson and Stywalt will have to concentrate more on defense and the Coote girl will have to concentrate more on offense than defense like the last games she played. And they're going to need for their center to step up and make her 2foot shots. Vance is better than they think they are, and better than what everyone else does. Im definitely not saying that they are gonna make it to the state (its a chance???), because they play regional rival McDowell.

Harding to has a fair shot at beating WC. With McDonalds nominee Kisha Granberry out for the rest of the season, its going to be a close game 2morrow night. Hardings going to have to rebound and keep a close eye on Colombia signee Ashley Rivens. 2morrow, there are going to be some good games between equal teams.

    MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

First off, welcome to the girls basketball board. I agree with your statement about Vance. They have hit some rough spots this season, but they have enough talent out there to be very close to what they were last season. Good luck tomorrow night against Independence.

#5 Vance upsets #1 Independence 79-76 in Overtime...they're most likely to play West Charlotte in the Championship game on Friday.

The #5 seed Vance will play the #2 seed West Charlotte in the MECA 8 Tourney Championship game, friday 4pm at Cricket Arena. The winner of tomorrow's game gets the #2 seed in the state sectionals, which would be a home game against the METRO #4 seed in the first round. If Vance was to win tomorrow, it would drop West Charlotte down to a 3 seed in the state sectionals, that would place West Charlotte in a first round matchup at home against the SW4A #4 seed, which would be Myers Park. If Vance loses, they would then be the #5 seed from the MECA 8 and would travel to the NW4A #2 seed on Monday (loser of McDowell/AC Reynolds tourney championship)

If Vance were to win...then who from the MECA 8 would be the #5 seed, and travel to McDowell/AC Reynolds loser? Hopewell?

Hopewell will be the #5 seed. Theres a VERY big chance that Vance will come away with a W. They have been playing very well the last two games.
