that is a darn shame about printing the names of other sports and not softball......got an email address, address.....PM me

Kings Mtn is another young experienced and hungry bunch of quality players and well coached! They hit the fastball by being patient but yet aggressive and IMO, SS just didnt hit the ball well from 5 to 9 in their lineup, that night!
Taylor, Kayla, Emily and Amber hit the ball well and Morgan Childers, FR, Kings Mtn pitcher is a bright young star on the mound, with the stick and at other defensive positions!! The next game between these two should be another great battle in Hickory, question is now, how will SS and KM fair against their conference softball rival: RS CENTRAL?? those three teams are the cream of this crop/conf(SWF3A)....

I know alot of folks that would love that! I'd be more than happy to contribute my 2 cents worth. My daughter pitches for Hickory Grove Christian a private 2A.

We will do all we can. Mark Packard and his group have always made fun of girls sports in the past, good luck with your efforts. These girls can solid play in this area and deserve credit for the ability it takes to play this game well. Didn't Jenny Finch strike out 6 or so of the best baseball players? Heard they only fouled off a couple of pitches. :laugh1:

Let me share with you something that has been on my mind.

I knew virtually nothing about HS softball. I followed Becky and Susan Mathews at Myers Park because I've known them since they were 10. My interest has always been on the baseball side.

I have been enjoying reading TBR's softball forum the past 2 season's and feel a better appreciation of what the female athletes sacrifice and invest to get better. I have even wandered over to a softball game at Ashbrook and South Meck to take in a few innings during a baseball game...I was very impressed by the intensity, drive and athleticism I found on those days....but there was something else that I found most attractive....they were playing the game in it's purest form. They loved it!!! It was not about politics, pushy parents nor hidden agendas you often see in HS baseball. It was sport in it's purest form....Competitive, intense desire to win and sportsmanship. That's what it is about for me.

Now maybe it's not that way....I don't know. But that's how it appeared to me and that's what draws me to watch softball....Now, if only I had a girl instead of all those lazy, never pick up after themselves sons. I'm willing to trade 2 athletic boys for 1 athletic girl...just PM me with the details :D

Another thing I have noticed is that the interest in softball travel teams and such is at an all time high....which means more opportunities to play with/against higher calibre players. HS Softball is a rising star!!!!!

Keep up the great work on this forum gals/guys

I spoke with Phil last Thursday at the Forestview/Providence game and as of then, he only had about half of the questionaires he sent out returned to him. The softball coaches need to get off the stick and promote their players and the game itself. A lot of folks in the area are waiting to see schedules and a little bit about each program. Well, time to get off my high horse.

This is a great idea...will do whatever possible to help and promote the idea. These ladies deserve all the recognition thet can get, they spend just as much time on the field, in the batting cages, etc. as any other athlete. I wish a lot of people that make fun of softball and say it's not a real sport would just come out and see a game...as the t-shirt says "There ain't nothin' soft about it." I think these people would be surprised at the ATHLETES they will find and the deisre and determination all these young ladies have to win. Just let me know what I can do to help promote this idea...I am willing to do whatever it takes to get the ladies some equal press time!!!! :xyzthumbs
