Not all coaches received a questionaire from PHIL, in this area. It's usually best to know facts before "questioning" other coaches.

 

Meaning no offense. Of the coaches that he sent questionaires to, only half returned them.

Gaston Gazette preview came out yesterday.

Well it is much better than in years past. I think it should have been done a bit different. More effort could have been done hounding the coaches that did not return questionaires to get a complete look at softball in the area.

But overall a solid C+ Phillip. Thanks.

THANK YOU! I agree, but there is really only certain areas of Gaston County that the Guessatit puts much effort into getting information from. I know of one coach that got a phone call the night before it came out. I do think that one problem could be that they only have one person doing Prep, unless I am mistaken. There should be at least 2. There are too many things happening, and too many things left out. I've called up there with information on the Middle School wrestling team I coached, and how well we did in the states. 4th place, only taking 11 wrestlers, out of aprox. 25 schools. Guessatit had no interest in that at all it seems. We're not from the right area of the County for one person to worry with.

 

First of all...congrats on the wrestling accomplishments. From the looks of you ID...you must be from WCF area. And I know...Friday & North Gaston have produced some great wrestlers.

As far as softball goes...it's been an up-hill battle for years getting the exposure that these softball athletes deserve. I won't argue the point that it appears that the Gazette has teams that they look after more than others from time to time and that probably shouldn't be. I would suggest that you email Phillip Gardner at the Gazette, but since the last time I email'ed him I have received over 100 SPAM messages. So...I think my next contact with him will be by phone.

Thank you for your kind words. oh and i forgot, i did call him...lol...no return phone calls. more than likely all you'll get is voice mail, and if you're lucky or from a certain area, he'll call you back. and it's not just there, the gaston disturber did me the same way. but i think that softball is like wrestling, on the low end of the totem pole. although i do think softball has come a long way. and as far as the softball teams that do get their notority, by all means it's deserved. but other teams deserve a little more too.
