    Whoa?

Hide behind my handle? Mine is (or at least was) pretty transparent. Most regular posters on the board know who I am.

Insider info? I do have little different perspective than many posters given the fact that I am 'acquainted' with a number of D1 coaches and do directly deal with issues of collegiate athletics by virtue of my position. However, in the end, my posts represent only 'one man's opinion' that, like any other post here, you can believe, refute or simply ignore.

I don't think I said anything in this thread that should be offensive. The initial post was a reaction to the way WCU handled the coaching change; odd at best in terms of the media strategy or lack thereof (how long did it take them to post the hiring info on the website?). The second was saying kudos to the new coach for honoring commitments. This is not necessarily something that happens at all institutions.

I've followed the program since it's inception as a couple of my DD's good softball friends were part of Coach Smith's original recruiting class. I hope the new coach can turn the program around and that the girls there can have a great experience.

    Congrats to Megan

Congratulations to Megan as she is a great player but more than that she is a FANTASTIC person. Quick with a smile and a kind word she is the kind of daughter that ANY parent would be proud to call their own. I have coached her in the State Games for the last 3 years and I am honored to have been a very small part of her life! Again Congrats Megan and Mom and Dad! I am very proud of you! Good Luck at Western!

    How lucky Western is

to be getting this fine young lady. She is a joy to be around and will be a great addition to the Western program. I am thankful that I had the wonderful opportunity to coach her in the State Games. I look forward to the good things I know I'm going to hear about your efforts at Western. Congrats to Megan and to Mom and Dad!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and just a quick update. WCU just finished their Fall season and Megan was able to get a lot of playing time and did very well. Coach Clift is a great guy and it looks like good things are ahead for this group. Megan is doing great and is very happy with her decision and has fit in great with her new teammates. It's a good group of girls, looking forward to the season.
