I wonder why that is not a more attractive job? There are good kids over that way and it is a pretty good school. I was shocked when I heard that they eleveted the middle school coach. Wasnt there a JV coach or an assistant who wanted it?

NW Guilford has a solid group of returning players and should challenge for the Metro 4A this season. Senior leaders include Matt Gaski, Jon Matthews, Tony Smith, Casey Johnson, Justin Pearson and Colby Howard, all starters on last year's squad. There are 2 returning lettermen in the Junior class, Houston Summers and Bryce Durham. Josh Montague, Michael Thompson and Cody Marshall will be other '05s to make an impact this season. '06's Nick Rogers and Michael Wright should see plenty of time with the varsity as well.

The coaching change situation came about due to the retirement of the previous AD, Wayne Knox. John Hughes was promoted from varsity head coach to AD. The new head coach is Tommy Waynick, who coached the NW Middle School team last spring and the NW Colt League in the fall. Everyone associated with NW Guilford baseball, myself included, believes Coach Waynick was a great choice for leading this program. He's stepping into a very solid program and he knows all the players, which should help make for a smooth transition. We'll see how it pans out, but I'm expecting very successful results for NW Guilford baseball.

    North Forsyth

North may be young but have a good coach and some good sophomores that will step up and the Vikings will be ready come spring time!

i think the triad has some of the best coaches in the state. they all seem to get along pretty well, and are willing to help each other, and each others players out. if it is good for the game they are all for it. this includes the cpc and the metro. i don't think there is a bad coach in the group. i only know a few in the 3-a conference, glenn and parkland and they can be thrown in with the others. great bunch of guys...............

Just a few things, DJ Mitchell is a junior at North Forsyth, he hit 90 mph at a showcase in Chapel Hill last summer and has never threw an inning at NF.........yet, i'll take care of that. Addison Johnson (soph) is the best 5-tool player in the conference if not the region.

Tommy Waynick is a good guy for Northwest. I had the pleasure of playing with/for Tommy on the legendary Greensboro Brewers, a semi-pro team. Definitely knows his baseball, loves to play Earl Weaver style ball if Summers and Johnson can help him.

We will be young this year but are not using that as an excuse, our JV program has lost only 2 conference games over the past two years i believe. These young guys are gamers and will not be looking anywhere but up.

Vikes28-DJ is very solid and Addison is a very good player. Are there any other starters from this years team returning in the spring?
