Because Charlotte has so many players playing Legion or summer showcase teams, it has been a little struggle to make it work. But the concept is good and they have some great coaches involved.

I would recommend that you contact HQ4 to get the details. Ask for Marty Barker and he can give you a better opinion about what is going on with the league

    Metro Charlotte League

The league is coming along. There were 14 teams based around area high schools in Charlotte, north Charlotte, and Concord last summer. Nine teams have already committed for this summer that will be starting games at the end of May. This league is a great alternative to traveling each weekend to play four games in two days. We will be playing a summer schedule May-July and a fall schedule, Sept-Oct. The schedule is flexible based on the teams' time and field space.

TEAMS interested in playing or PLAYERS that are looking for a team to play with this summer can contact either Marty Barker at Hq4baseball.com or David Darwin at www.MyCoreAthletics.com.

Indivduals in the north end or near Concord, Core Athletics will have a team in the league. Tryouts are May 9th at Concord High School at 2pm. To register for tryouts, email [email protected].
*If you are on a team in the league, then you do not need to come to tryouts.

The league is fairly competitive, as the teams are all made up of current high school players. The schedule is unbalanced to accommodate any difference in play.

There will not be college coaches hanging out at games, unless they come to see one particular player. In the past we have taken the best players in the league to a showcase tourney or put them in front of college coaches in some manner. In August, Core Athletics holds a PRO-Scout tryout where local MLB scouts evaluate the kids in the tryout and we return the results to the players in order to give them an idea of where they stand.

Our goal is to best develop players so that they contribute and succeed on their high school teams. IF they are successful on their high school team, they will be in a position to play college ball.
