After talking with another fellow TBR participant the Mic has come up with his playoff picture. So no one gets stuck with 3 top ranked teams in same bracket as always happens: Butler, CC, ND.

Instead of 64 team field, with a few sub par teams with single elim., do a 32 field, dbl elim. 16 from East, 16 from West, all playing at the Creek, one weekend.

    Let's have some input here.

I like that idea but I don't thing the state HS association would. They just went to the big field of 64 last year and Not that the NCHSAA looked at it this way but that would cut the revenue potential way down.

    32 teams x 4 = 128 teams.

A lot of expense for travel, motels and eating. Motels would like this. Rates up

How would you seed the teams? Conference records, overall records, polls or blind draws.

Better just stick with rotation we have now with rotation of conference yearly.

To win the state you have to beat whoever you play either in the regions or at the Creek.

I agree that it is bad for 3 top teams in one bracket but just the luck of the rotation.

    You are right

Butler, Providence and Audrey Kell would all lose revenue as each is getting a part of conference and I guess some of playoff revenue, depending on how they are seated. Other conference teams reap the same benefits. And as stated in a previous post, expenses for travel and hotels could be high but U have some of that expense under present system. As in NCAA, Pro's, and others, U just can not seem to give all teams a chance. Heck, go back to old days when only the conference champ made it! Or U could allow regular season and if different, tourney champ to move on to state, makes the most sense as they have been the most consistent winner for the season.
No way the top three Western teams should be in same bracket and there should be some leadway to make the bracket as fair as can be. Yea, you got to play them sometime but not likely in first or second round. Heck it is great softball at this point so we should all enjoy and let what happens happen. See U at the field.

Doesn't SC do mini double elimination tournaments (4-6 teams) with the winner moving on to the state playoffs. I believe they are seeded in these tournaments as well. Any SC folks can clarify if i am wrong
