Kaci Williams and Emily Riddle combined for a 3 hitter, but both had their "Wild" moments. Elizabeth Johnson with a home run, Emily Riddle and Elisha Clutter had triples with Clutters coming leading off the bottom of the final inning, were the leading hitters

Cynthia Young, Joni Henderson and Codie Daniels had the hits for North B.

Kaci Williams injured her knee in the game. Get Well soon Kaci...We need ya.

    Cleveland Middle School...9
    North Johnston..............3

surprising to some there but that whole Johnston County area is also becoming a Softball County with committed players and parents.

McGee Crossroad Middle has a very good 8th grader with alot of effective pitches and Cleveland MS has two good ones with sticks and hope to see her and CMS again in April when they play Riverwood.

thanks guys for relaying the scores.....greatly appreciated and enjoyed!!

    MS softball in JC

Yes, I agree there's good softball in JC!
Saw a couple innings today of Cleveland Midd. vs. McGees. Cleveland was ahead 4-1 when I left in 3rd inning. Had to leave to go get DD at WJHS practice.
Both these midd sch's do have very good pitchers, the one at McGees is in 8th grade & one at Cleveland is 7th grade. I coached them both several yr's ago when they began in rec ball.
The coach at WJHS has done a good thing in that she's invited these 2 teams (rivals & only a few miles apart) to play their last game of season under the lights at the HS field. Nice idea. They have a MS rule in our county that no game can start at 7:00 p.m. or after, so the official start time is set for 6:59 p.m. !! Thanks.

DD called to report........ Riverwood(4-0) won against Smithfield 13-3. McGee is next for them, then Cleveland and those three teams should be the cream of the crop in JC MS League!!!!

the kids at ALL three Middle Schools are the real deal(witnessed) but you bet those teams are preparing their hitters with their staff of pitchers and their coaches!!!

thanks for reporting guys and gals!!

Why do some middle schools play in the fall and some in the spring?
I know several of my Spartanburg girls play in the spring, but I thought that was a SC thing. I didnt even realize NC had spring middle school softball.

    fall MS ball

A few yr's ago I worked in the Wilmington area. Down there, they played MS softball in the fall.
Don't really know why; maybe weather -related? The fall really is better-suited for MS softball since they don't have playoffs, conf. tourn.'s etc that would take them into late cool fall weather.
Any early spring softball season is a mixed bag; mostly chilly the first part of season, but I've noticed it really only bothers the fans. I don't see any players complaining.
