softballfever, i try to watch all the middle school games that i can in our conference. it pays to watch for who's coming up and going to what school. we had a great influx of freshmen this year, gonna make solid players in next year or so. we knew strengths and weakness before they came and were ready to help them become better players. it also helps to know what positions are coming up to counter positions lost thru graduation. keep posting them scores

Iredell County started this week as well......Will try to refrain from spewing my displeasure at middle school softball/baseball in Iredell County.........I coach a North Iredell team and we tied (yes tied) 6-6 vs West Iredell Middle.............Troutman middle up next.......

Well as I've explained before in Iredell County the middle school program is in NAME only....... The girls I have attend North Iredell Middle school........but I get NO FUNDING from the middle school ......it is NOT RECOGNIZED by the middle school.......No tryouts........just sign ups etc etc......The Statesville recreation and Parks dept........has our middle school program and runs it to the best of their ability.... but its still a rec ball league.......and this bugs me....at a time when we should be getting the ones ready to play high school ball who are capable.....(Like Football,Basketball, volleyball...etc etc,) I've got kids on MY TEAM that have NEVER PLAYED(Believe that or not) and I'm SUPPOSED to play them.....2 innings and 1 at bat.....Rec rules.

Well getting to the tie.......like any rec league....No inning shall start after 65 minutes........so we didn't get to break the tie....... OK Off soapbox.......

YES.......But they play longer games......Same concept though.......No cuts....Kid decides in the 8th grade he wants to play........YOU HAVE to LET him play...........regardless of skill level.........
