No problems with your predictions - they may play out to be true with the competition this year. I just wanted to point out that Butler continues with dominant pitching in 2008!

ERA of 0.00 in 10 games for one pitcher and ERA of 0.00 in 5 games for another pitcher - what term do you use to descibe that? Against quality teams, none the less.

Your previous comment indicated that the "the two dominant pitchers are now at the next level" . I simply offered the facts as stated by the Charlotte Observer that despite the graduation of one dominant pitcher from 2007 they still have dominant pitching for 2008.

With an ERA of 0.00 the pitcher is doing a little more than keeping you in the game! There can be no debate that the pitching is dominant - no one has scored an earned run this year on these 2 pitchers. I did not say the team was dominant - but the pitching appears to be so!

    HUGE GAME TONIGHT

HUGE game tonight at Fred T. Foard @ 7pm vs Saint Stephens. Winner should take all or at least be in the drivers seat for the Championship. SS won the first match up on the last play of the game by one run. Should be a great game to watch.....get there early it should sell out....LOL:trophy::stirthepot::munching_out::drive:

Oh no, we disagree on something at last LOL

Triton has had some very strong playing this year, and Faircloth has done a great job on the plate giving teams a serious time in the batter's box. Triton has a strong top of the line up thanks to the tb players, and can put the runs on the board. Southern, without the strength of Faircloth on the plate, has a superb field behind pitcher Holmes and a few strong bats in their line ups. With a slapper in Smith that has great speed on the base path and some strong bats in Dew and Blackmon, Southern is a tough game.

Central does not have the pitching it has had in the past in Taylor, and while still strong, teams are getting around on and hits off of the pitchers much more so this year. Central's field remains strong, and has some superb batting in their line up. While Central *could* take out Triton, with Triton's confidence boosting them going into conference tournament from their successes in conference play, it will depend one the determination of Central.

Gray's hinges their successes on the lefty pitcher Farmer, with very little talent in the field to back her up. If you can get the ball in play on that outside pitch, you can beat them. Couple of strong bats in their line-up, but not top to bottom and not enough to put a beating on any team in this conference without assistance in the form of errors from the opposition. Key is to hit that outside pitch and be aware, at the very start, umps will call that pitch well off the plate a strike.

Western is still struggling with strength across their roster. However, Womack's bat is steaming hot again, Womble places a mean slap and you have power in the lineup in the forms of Holmes and Douglas. Batting all the way down the line up has heated up, as shown by recent scores compared to early season. If Western stops defeating themselves with errors in the field, they will be a force to contend with during Conferences. There is a good possibility of an upset from this team during conference play.

South Johnston has had some good and bad moments on the field this year. Currently South is 4th or 5th in standings, but one has to keep in mind that one conference game is yet undecided with a 9-9 tie, opposing team at plate, to of the 5th, bases loaded. Capps is their primary pitcher and seems to have limited movement on the ball although she has decent speed. If a teams bats run hot, and they find the holes, this team is very beatable. Given some close scores during the conference season, an upset of one of the top seeded teams would not be shocking.

Union Pines' upset over Southern Lee was mind-boggling and I do not anticipate another upset during conferences from this team. Pitching on this team is weak, and bats are not strong from top to bottom of this line up. Fielding is strong in some areas of the field, weaker in others. Trick with this team is to hit it hard, their reaction times are on the slower side. They will settle firmly in the 7th spot.

Overhills. No pitching, little fielding, two batters. Enough said. Anything other than 8th would be mind-boggling.

Here is how I see things stacking up (sorry my friend):

    1. Triton
    2. Harnett Central
    3. Southern Lee
    4. Western
    5. South Johnston
    6. Gray's Creek
    7. Union Pines
    8. Overhills
