Don't hear too much about the UNCP program. How are things looking for them this spring?

Congrat's to Mike and his family. Enjoyed spending weekends this year with you guys. Looking forward to seeing you be success for the Braves

 

Coach O'Neal had a outstanding recruiting class last year at UNCP. He brought in 10 quality freshman. Two big recruits were Jake Dailey, Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough and Josh Haley from Pinecrest high school. He must have worked overtime to get these two as both are solid D1 talent and good students. Dailey is 6'7 and weighs 230. He's a right hand pitcher that throws in the low to mid 90's. Haley,6'2,195, is an out fielder who runs a 4.4/4.5. Good arm, solid with the bat and is an excellent athlete. Both should get plenty of innings this year with Dailey possibly being a mid week starter and Haley possibly starting in RF.
They also brought in a couple of juco pitchers that should see some serious innings. Matt McGovern from Ottowa Cananda, Monroe CC. looks to be separating himself from the rest. He's 6'2 200 lbs and throws in the upper 80's to low 90's. These guys hook up with a team that is made up of mostly sophs. (Josh Bagley was there #1 pitcher last year and Keith Whitman led the team in HR's with 14(?) both of them are sophs) The Braves won 30 games last year and are expected to do better this year. The Peachbelt Conf. is the top D2 conf in the country and UNCP should be near the top of the conf.
