Is given to the Player of the Year in each classification and the top vote- getter. Started this thread to get others opinions, views and thoughts on this Award. I have stated in other threads that i thought we needed to have two (2) MVPs in each class, MV-Pitcher and a MV-Player but its this way Now so here are my picks for 2004:

    4A--Destiny Covington, Central Cabaruss
3A--Emily Forbes, St Stephens, UNCC Signee
2A--Shellie Wimpey, Northeastern + Hannah Angel, Forbush
1A--Brittany Lehrschall, North Brunswick, East TN State University Signee

    :D another great year ladies!!

Little bias but Meredith O'Connor as 4A and would agree with the rest of your picks given the class they represent.

    Miss Softball

U guys had a great season and Gina is a great young lady and pitcher. However, your team was much more solid from top to bottom than Myers Park. Mp had a great year and the girls played great but only three or four of their players play summer travel ball. Meredith's ERA I believe was .21 or so as she gave up 5 earned runs all year. Again, Gina is a quality pitcher and has two more years to terrorize batters, Mere is moving on to App State. I vote Meredith bu that is what makes it all interesting, we all have our take on the game. Great job winning the States!!!!!!!!!

I vote Co-State 4A Players of the Year.

Covington and Allen. It comes down to who gets the job done in the end. Myers Park had a good year, Meredith is quality, no doubt about it, but in the end there was only one team standing. The best of the best find ways to win. The numbers are comparable, but head to head there was a differnce in the numbers of K's on the same night and hits allowed. And Allen put Central in the drivers seat in the biggest games of the year. Covington is the best 4A position player/threat at the plate in the 4A leagues. There are great players out there, but these two have exceptional skills and performed at the games most pressure packed games to win a State Title. :xyzthumbs

    Ms Softball

They both are great players and good young ladies. U are right they make any team better. If Ms Softball is based on individual accomplishments, Meredith should win. Without Meredith, MP is middle of the pack in the conference. They had some good players and jelled as a team but the pitcher/catcher combination kept them in every game. No one scored more than three runs on them all year and U are right, they lost to the states best team 1-0 in the final at bat, what a year of softball. Central is blessed with a wonderful array of talent and they played very well as a team. I am sure the debate will continue and I do understand your opinion and respect same. Can't wait for the summer ball to kick off now. Way to go CC great run. :xyzthumbs
