Predict who from the present HS ranks in NC (can include '06 seniors) will at some time in the future, play Major League Baseball. Not minors please, I'm talking "the show".

No dreaming now, be serious & thoughtful. List should be short.

Wow...that's a pure crapshoot. So many factors will determine that and talent is just one aspect. Homesick, girlfriends, organizational changes, coach's likes/dislikes, teammates, injuries, etc, etc.... HS kids are the hardest to project.

But of the '06's only, I would say Josh Thrailkill and Drew Poulk have a good shot. I believe Ryan Morris has a good chance because it is my belief he may sign a pro contract this year and will have a great opportunity to grow with a franchise.

and with a HS kid, you never know how they will develop in college

I'm sure there are others, but of the one's that I know, they project well and are signable

Others that probably have the physical tools and makeup are Madison Bumgarner at South Caldwell, Derrick Lowry at Scotland, Jeff May at South Granville, Alex White at Conley, Lonnie Chisenhall at W Carteret. But as stated above, there are so many pitfalls for even the most talented kids that this is a crapshoot.

I would rank Madison Bumgardner as the most likely because of his size and arm.

Next to Cameron Maybin, he has the best tools I have seen in the last 3 years. At least since Daniel Bard

Braves, you mean to tell me you think a 6'5 lefthanded pitcher that isn't done growing and already throws mid-90s is a good pickup for a MLB team. Surely you gest. Next thing you are going to tell me is those 12 HRs (at a pretty big home field at South Caldwell) are a nice stat too... hey but what do I know...

I will yield to your judgement... I think I will pick Madison too.

This is so hard to project... it is a crap shoot...

For example, you dont know how their makeup will help or hinder their development. THe best example I can give is Josh Hamilton. All the tools, etc... sure-fire talent, and where is he now??? He is not in "the show", where talent wise he belongs.

You have to look at the tools, and the maturity and then hope that some devestating injury does not occur to ruin a career.

I think the question was going to the "Show"...not being drafted. I've seen a lot of guys with equal or better tools that never made it.

...and that is just one scenario. Even with the maturity, talent and no injury, one can still be a long way from the "show". There is just too many factors...but based on sheer talent and size, Madison and Cameron are good choices. And those would be my top candidates.

The funny thing is, when it comes to pro ball, since 2% of drafted players make it, some of those guys that fill up the 2% are the Billy Ecksteins, Glenn Hubbards, Craig Counsells....so based on that, I'm going to change my opinion and go with Devin Presnell @ Watauga and Doug Jones @ SM

    yes the "show"

Yes just dreaming of who the current HS players are from NC that will be major leaguers one day, that fulfill that dream, like Trot Nixon did, & Tommy Greene, & Catfish Hunter , The Perry brothers.

I think I heard that a player from Wilson Co. maybe Freddie Bynum had made it to the show this year.

Freddie Bynum is up with the Cubs. Last week when they hosted the Braves he was in the line-up Friday afternoon.

His stats according to the Cubs Website are:

    30 47 6 10 0 2 2 6 20 1 18 3 0 .245 .426 .213
