When you think "model" legion baseball programs, only a few names come to mind,,,,, Cherryville, Shelby, Caldwell County,,, and then there is Rowan County. Of course everyone knows that in order to run an American Legion baseball program, it takes $$, I mean to do it RIGHT it takes serious $$. Rowan County appears to have it all,,, the beautiful home stadium, the loyal crowds every night, the enormous halfnhalf drawings each night, great newspaper coverage, 2 radio stations, chartered buses for road trips, and yes of course fresh roasted peanuts  along with many other great menu items. Actually, Pinky's hotdogs are not my favorite (sorry Pinky) but I still gotta have one every time I visit Salisbury. These are the reasons that Little leaguers all over Rowan County grow up dreaming to play in this environment and wear that uniform someday.

If you wonder what all the fuss is about, or if your just interested in making improvements to your own baseball program,,, you honestly need to just visit Newman Park one night this summer. Seriously.

Boy do we love our legion baseball in Rowan County. We know how lucky we are to have such nice facilities and the support that Rowan gets is out of this world. If you've never been to a game at Newman, I highly suggest it.

TJ, you can't forget the Cheerwine slushies!

From first-hand experience, every single player in the Area III South looks forward to the game at Rowan County. You know there's gonna be a crowd, you know you're gonna face top-notch competition that conducts itself professionally, and you know you're gonna play on the best playing surface (in all likelihood) in the state.

    A Lttle help please!

After reading these post I can not wait to visit Rowan. The biggest problem I am having is finding directions to the fields. Can you tell us how to find the field?

    Here: Directions to Catawba College

Once you get on Innes Street, turn left on Summit Ave. and it takes you right to the ballpark.

    Watch where you sit!

Ok, I am a believer! Was ably to take in a game there Sunday and it was a fantastic place to watch a game. From the ball field to the gentleman playing the trumpet, it could not have been any better.

Only complaint was I got run out of the bleacher sitting by a very nice lady that made it clear that I was in a reserved area. I could not have been further from the field than where I setup and that was reserved sitting?? They take their ball (and Sitting) very serious! It was actually very funny! I nicely moved and watched the game with come great Rowan fans. They new every player, where they attended school and what their future plans were. It was a great time!
