Mooresville Coach steps down

Steve McCurry stepped down today as head football coach at Mooresville. WOW, I heard rumors of this but thought it was just twaddle.

 

I sure hope nobody expects Mike Carter to get back into coaching.

 

I would think that Mooresville will get the cherry pick. Great facility, great tradition, and next year will be much better whomever gets the job. Mooresville was the most talented 0-11 team in North Carolina High School History IMO.

 

Hard to believe they went 0-11. Was: 1)the talent level that bad 2) the coaching that bad 3) all the breaks went against them or 4) a little of all three?

 

Honestly the one game I saw them play against AC in Taylorsville. They were without a few players I believe then and they looked talented enough to hang and play with anybody they came into contact with. The coaching decisions are up in the air if you ask me. Sometimes they work and sometimes they back fire. The only reason Bill Belicheck is getting sort of a pass from some people ( NOT ME) from that 4th and 2 on their own 28 yrd line, is becuz of his past success. Sometimes the failed calls come prior and sometimes they come after a coach has had success. Just depends, but I am just as shocked also at this chain of events.

 

I'm not shocked because a lot of people were not happy with McCurry from the start. I thought that he would tough it out for another year and get the team turned around. They will win 5 games minimum next year regardless who takes the job. That's not a knock on McCurry, it's just going to happen IMO.

 

Did he come from one of the Asheville area schools? AC Reynolds or somewhere where he had success. Just curious.

 

i had heard some rumors as well but was holding out to see what happened. who knows what goes on behind closed doors? oh well, here we go again.

 

Unbelievable. This is a school with fantastic facilities for just about every sport, and they just lost one of their only decent coaches.
