Well it took some doing and corroporation of many people but the 2011 season along with the future of Post 66 looks really promising. There are several changes, more notably the field switch from Mooresville HS to Lake Norman HS for all home games. Sad in a way that Post 66 has been a fixture for so long in the down town section of Mooresville. But decisions were made that brought on the move, and everything looks to have worked out for the better. On top of that, even with the threat of two teams for two high schools, I believe Post 66 will be competitive. Funny how things work themselves out, and the old saying "Everything happens for a reason" could not be more evident here.

Attended a very entertaining and extremely emotional rivalry game between our two feeder schools, Mooresville and Lake Norman. It made me proud to watch these two go at it and the calibar of baseball they can play. These kids that make up these two schools love to hate each other on the ball field, but they respect, and are friends, with one another in their everyday happenings. Unfortunatly, what has happened in legion baseball in our town will not allow for these two schools to come together and compete against other towns anymore. It was only compounded for me tonight by watching that ball game. It really bothers me, and I am saddened by what adults can ruin for kids in todays society. Simply because a couple of adults must have their way, these two schools, and the friendship that binds them in the summer will never be the same.

Junior Member how right you are that a person will do anything to get their way. People need to let the kids play ball and not do things just to satisfy their own ego. Hope that Post 66 at Lake Norman has a great year.

This is very true. These things are what destroys programs, and that was the intention here, nothing else! Other reasons for establishing this post were given, but were VERY untrue. However, Post 66 still has control this year, and with what kids from Mooresville have committed, and what others have verbally committed to come from Mooresville, Post 66 will be strong for atleast another year. Its unfortunate that these two programs can not continue to work together and give teams like Rowan a run for their money.

Two Sides to every story LegionMan. I'm a coach for the new Post 537 and I myself care more about the kids playing baseball than anyone. I also will not hide behind a screen name. My name is Jeff "Moose" Nanney. My commitment to kids and baseball programs is untouched in this area. I will argue and can line up tons of parents and kids who have played for me who support what I do and what I stand for. I also supported Post 66 baseball both Jr and Sr programs by radio advertising for the last 5 years, player of the game tshirts, and free gear to both of the Jr Legion programs when my son participated. I wish Post 66 the best as I have kids who have played for me on that team.

My son played for Post 66 and won a Jr. Legion State runner up and the next year a state championship. He also played for the Sr team last year and had a great time. He has not decided about which team to play for as he does have a choice. I have left that up to him. However with what I continue to hear he'll probably get cut not because of ability but because I have chosen to coach Post 537. Actually heard that from more than 1 person and laughed my ass off! How childish. :N1Lol16:

I will not exchange arguments with you about fault. I don't care. I really don't. However, continuing to beat a dead horse is not constructive and helps no one. I've heard both sides of the story and don't care. I wanted to coach and now I have the opportunity. I'm excited to try to help rebuild the tradition that American Legion baseball brings. Let it rest!!!!!

That is the problem. Post 66 can not let it rest. The high school coaches at Mooresville are seeing to that. This has turned into a recruiting war, and 537 has the upper hand since they spend five days a week at the ball field with half of our drawing card. I have heared as of Friday, that one particular coach, and not the head coach, continually puts pressure on more than one players about their summer intentions. He has even gone as far as telling one sr who has already decided what he is doing this summer, to not talk legion because this is high school, but yet he continues his pleading. I truly wish you knew both sides of the story, because if you did you would not lay with the devil.

Also, one statement you made that absolutely makes no sense is that you " are excited to try to help rebuild the tradition that American Legion Baseball brings." I personally know the coaches of Post 66, and they have done NOTHING to bring this on. They took a program that did not have equal representation from their two schools, and have successfully joined the two neighbors. Despite injuries and non corroporation from the JR program, they have managed a Top 3 finish in Area III South for 3 straight years. This Legion Program in Mooresville is not broke, so it did not need fixing, even though your statement screams that.

I as well am not going to get into an arguement with you. I understand why you are helping, dont agree with it, but what you do is your business. I know without a doubt, and it has been repeated by five MHS players, that if this was not put on these young mens plates this year, the high school season at Mooresville would have been a lot better than it is. But that is what the head coach has allowed and that is now his problem.

I am done on this topic. There is alot of greedy individuals in the community and its unfortunate because the kids are the ones put in the middle. Everyone has witnessed the split in this recently successful legion program, and it will never go back. Doubt either program will be successful, but 537's coach informed our coach that winning isn't everything. Maybe, you can convince the umpires and opposing coaches this summer to not keep score. Then your kids and Post 66's may be happy!

LegionMan. The rebuild comment was taken wrong. Meant to say Build American Legion baseball. Sorry about that comment. I want as many kids playing Legion baseball as possible. It is losing kids to travel and showcase and I want to see that reversed. I do chose to coach because I love it. I wish you guys the best at Post 66.

    Complete Opposites

It is great that Legionman and Put Me In Coach had their comments end up beside eachother. It gives the reader the ability to see the contrasts between the two statements. Put me in coach repeatedly refers to his love of the game and his desire to help the kids learn this great game. Legionman on the other hand, blames others for ruining an otherwise "successful" program. Put me in coach ends his comments wishing Post 66 the best of luck in the upcoming season. Legionman? He only offers smartass comments about not keeping score.
I have no idea who Legionman is, so I will not guess his role in the situation or what his true motivations are, but I do think his words and attitude speaks for itself. Moose on the other hand, I have known for many years and have had the privaledge of having him coach my son. He has always placed the kids first. He is dedicated to each of them and will support them no matter who they play for.
Based on the comments of both Legionman and Moose, and if Legion man is somehow involved in the program and the program shares his feelings, I think it would be an easy decision as to where a parent would want their son to play. I hope that the Post 66 program does not share his attitude and if he is involved with the program....well, nevermind. . I too wish both teams the best of luck this summer.
