    Post 66 Senior Schedule

I'm planning to attend Post 66's games. I saw the posted schedule. Are all the games played at 7pm and where could I find the ballfield addresses for the "away games"?

I can check with the Athletic Director about posting that. Tomorrow's Non-League game is at East Forsyth high school against Kernersville.

I was under the impression that every kid who wanted a release was going to be able to get one. It seems childish to me to prevent a kid from playing with his friends out of spite. It's also extremely childish and inappropriate for a coach to belligerently curse at any player or parent who is trying to get a release. It's about time the adults start acting like adults. I am absolutely embarrassed to be a native of Mooresville and a former legion baseball player.

    Too Sad!!!

While this doesn't surprise me, it does disappoint me. I know of two boys that were originally advised they would be granted their releases from Post 66 to play for Post 537 only to be advised that would not happen when the time came to actually obtain the releases. When one of the boys called the head coach to request his release after his father had already requested it, he was hit with a barage of foul language. These two players did finally receive their releases. Post 537, as I understand it, has signed all releases requested, with one being delayed trying to get the two above resolved. There are other players who are being forced to sit out this season, because Post 66 has absolutely refused to sign their releases. A message to both coaches at both posts....American Legion baseball is about the players. It's not about you or your egos. Shame on you for not signing any release requested. You're coaches...Players look up to you.......the most important thing to you should be that these boys are playing somewhere. Be a good role model and do the right thing......Maybe it's too late to do anything, but if anyone out there knows anyone who can help get these players releases so they can play the game they love, the game we all love, please help.......This is wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!! If it is too late, then I hope both legion post receive this message loud and clear........if you aren't embarrassed and humiliated, then you should be.........do everyone a favor, get rid of every coach, I don't care who they are, that is refusing to sign ANY players release for ANY reason. For those players getting to participate, good luck to each of you, have fun and enjoy these years while you can. For those not being allowed to participate I feel terrible....I'm so very sorry and I wish I could do something to change that for you, but unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do so. I will miss your faces on the field this summer and wish you the best of luck in the future.

    Here it is Again.

With 2 teams in Mooresville this year it is confusing on who plays where. Regardless of what you may have been told or even read in the paper, below are the actual rules Pasted from the 2011 Rule Book we will be going by. The original team base school is Lake Norman and the new team base school is Pine Lake. Hope this Helps

    – Teams may select:

    1. Non-base school players whose parents’ or guardians’ domicile is nearest the team’s base school. To determine the nearest team, use the shortest driving distance as calculated by MapQuest ® (www.mapquest.com)
    2. Teams may not recruit a player(s) from another team’s base school.
    Clarification
Players who try-out for and fail to make the nearest team can request a transfer to the second closest team to their parent’s domicile. If cut again, that player may try-out for the third closest team, until such time the player is able to play on a team. The enrollment of the high school a player attends on March 31, shall be counted. The combined total enrollment of the schools cannot exceed 5,000 students for 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

    I. New Team Formation. In the event a new Legion team is formed which is closer to a player’s parents’ domicile, that player has a one-time option of playing with the team for which he last played or for the new team.

These rules are so that Legion Baseball will be fair to All. No Recruiting. Simply based on playing where you live. Just like school district, or voting place, tax districts. Try getting-in state tuition at Clemson? Every young man has a place and a chance to play Legion Baseball. Whoever told them they could choose their team did them a great disservice.

I cannot believe that a coach who is supposed to care about players would refuse to sign a release for a player who politely informed the coach that he wants to play for the team that plays on his school's field with his best friends. I am also taken aback by the harshly foul language that 1 coach uses when addressing parents and prospective players. He made no comment about the player, his ability or playing time, just that "they are out to get me." It isn't about the coach, it is about the player. The coach should be ashamed, and so should the post. The rules state where you are designated to play, but also allow for releases. Because he feel someone is out to get him, he holds it over a kids head. It is just sad.
