Wayne's pitching had been its strength throughout the playoffs. Davis didn't look as impressive as usual, but Sasser stunk it up. And he would agree with me on that.

Messer looked good. I'm not one to refuse to give credit to the other team. But we didn't get it done at the plate early and wilted ... not from the weather.

Young looked the best. Great breaking pitch.

Morehead looked as if they were clueless with what to due with Cy Young's slider. His fast ball is nothing to sniff at either. Whoever was calling the pitches for Rowan did an excellent job, as Young kept Morehead off balance the whole game. Like I said earlier, I saw them hit one ball hard and it was caught.

I thought Wayne would give Caldwell a tougher game today with Davis pitching. I'm not sure why he left after 5 innings. Maybe he was on a pitch count.

I wasn't at the game today and got second hand info but was it the plan for Wayne County all along to pitch Davis half the game and Sasser the 2nd half (had Caldwell not put the game out of reach)? I've always heard good things about Sasser. Where does he go to school?

Davis and Sasser are cousins and obviously very different pitchers. Sasser is headed to Moo U.:4:

Wayne coach Brad Reaves is big on pitch counts. Davis was at 98 after five, and when I told him how many he had, that was it. Plus, it was HOT! Sasser is a starter, but the score was 2-0 when he came in so Reaves wanted to keep it close and hope the bats get going.

I wonder what Caldwell would have done about Messer without the big inning.

    Commendable

Coach Reaves is to commended, no game is worth taking a chance on messingup a young man's arm.

Know your pitchers and their limitations, set limits and stick with them. A coach wants to win big games, but it should never come at the expense of a player's arm.

Messer was coming out too. Berry was going to start the seventh inning even if we had not expoded for the runs in the top half of the inning. Which brings me to a question??

Anyone want to guess on the length of that Chavis Bomb??? :)

Surprise of the Tourney HAS to be Wayne's 19-1 win over Rowan.

Wayne is a very good team, but 18 runs better than Rowan?
