[IMG]The original "Mo" is at it again. Morgan Childers struck out 12 in game #1 at the Tar Heel Inv tournament leading the Upstate Spartans in the circle.
She then teamed up with Brittany Rice & Kayla Short to deafeat a tough & seasoned James Madison Dukes team , as Mo returned to the circle in the bottom of the 7th to record two more K's and help secure the win for the lady Spartans.
Upstate improves to 11-3 in the spring and 28-3 overall after a 17-0 fall session.
Upstate lines up against Princeton & UNC today
    Keep it real Mo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moe is one of the best control pitchers I have seen. She never gets raddled just keeps on her game. She will have huge success at USC

Morgan Childers A -Sun Pitcher of the week !

    March 17, 2008

Spartanburg, S.C. - USC Upstate standout pitcher Morgan Childers capped off a strong week last week by being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Childers, a freshman from Kings Mountain, N.C., is used to making history and she has done it again by becoming the softball program's first ever winner of an A-Sun weekly award. Earlier this season she broke the school's single-game strikeouts record with 18 (in 21 outs) in the season-opener against Tusculum.
"Morgan is certainly deserving of this honor," said Upstate head coach Chris Hawkins. "She is a strong-willed, determined pitcher who has the drive to succeed in anything she does. She has turned in some very strong efforts for us early in the season and will be a key for our success the remainder of the year."
Childers earned A-Sun Pitcher of the Week honors after leading Upstate to three wins last week. She tossed three complete games in three starts to earn the three victories. She also made three relief appearances on the week. She finished the week with a 3-1 record, 0.76 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings pitched.
"It's really exciting to get this award," said Childers. "I have a solid defense behind me which gives me a lot of confidence when I'm out there. It allows me to go after hitters knowing they are behind me ready to make plays."
Childers began the week with an 11-2 victory over UNC Wilmington. She gave up two runs in the first inning, then allowed just three hits the rest of the way. She struck out eight batters along the way. In her next two starts, she turned in back-to-back shutouts in wins over Coastal Carolina and A-Sun foe Belmont. She went the distance, scattering two hits and striking out 13 in 10 innings to earn the 1-0 victory at Coastal last Wednesday. She opened A-Sun play with a two-hit shutout of Belmont Sunday, going the distance with 11 strikeouts. Childers currently leads the A-Sun with a .155 opponent's batting average. She also ranks among the league leaders with a 12-2 overall record, 1.17 ERA and 119 strikeouts. She has made 17 appearances on the year, tossing 11 complete games in 12 starts with four shutouts, and owns the team's only save on the year.

    MO

Mo has stepped in and become #1 pitcher at Upstate and is making a great many D-1 schools wish she had not entered the college ranks! I think she is 21-3!:30:
