Morganton's Little League All Stars will be playing on ESPN saturday night at 7:00.If they win, they advance to the Little League World Series. The only two teams I remember playing in the LLWS from North Carolina are Greenville(1998?)and Clemmons(2002).

Awesome, Good luck to them. What HS will these kids be going too in a few years? Greenville Rose seemed to do pretty well once those kids reached the HS level.

West Raleigh has a 12-U team in the Ripken (?) league that is going to World Series...

    Morganton LL

They are a very good and deep team. Their strength seems to be in their pitching. The Charlotte District winners lost 3-2 up in Rutherfordton during the state tournament. Morganton has at least 3 big ol boys that throw as hard as anyone around and mix in a slower curve very effectively. Very hard to adjust from 45 feet.

They also have a lot of travel tournament ball experience. I noticed them taking the first couple of steps to first on past ball third strike one game and I commented they must play AAU. I was corrected by a dad from the team: USSSA. The experience together and at a higher level of intensity, no doubt, has helped them. They will represent NC and the SE well if they win Sat.

    Congratulations, :applause: :applause: :applause:

It's just as much if not more fun to watch that level of kids play than watching High School or American Legion baseball.

Interesting fact about the Morganton team. Two brothers from Morganton Nick and Alex Chapman, have had great summers. Nick plays for the Morganton little league All Stars and older brother Alex (Freedom High) started at second base for the Diamond Devils U18 team that won the Perfect Game National Championship and the CABA National Championship this summer. The kids have great parents, Wayne and Robyn Chapman, who have traveled all summer all over the Southeast to support their two kids. They just thought they were finished for the summer when the Morganton little leaguers earned the trip to Clearwater, FL and hopefully will earn the trip to Williamsport. What a great and memorable summer for the Chapmans.

    My hometown boys!

The kids on the east side of Morganton will go to East Burke, but the majority of them will go to Freedom!

Someone told me today that they needed $50,000 to go to the LL World Series ?

Was this true or did someone hear wrong ?
