The Mudslingers had a tough time of it this weekend going 2-3, losing to the runner up Orange Crush in pool play 6-5, then going 2-2 in the bracket to finish 4th, The defense was uncharacteristically not as strong as usual especially in the last game against the Phantoms against the bunt, hopefully things were learned and we will improve our mistakes and get better for next tournament.

    Mudslingers 6
    Black Diamonds 1
    WP-Nikki Hill

    Mudslingers 2
    Orange Crush 3
    LP-Stacey Wolfrey

    Mudslingers 19
    Lenoir Panthers 0
    WP-Samantha Elliott (1H Shutout)

    Mudslingers 2
    Phantoms 9

Got to see some of the games on Saturday. That park is really nice!! Looked like a great day of ball. Looked like the mudslingers played hard, just didnt get some bounces. That Orange Crush team looked really good Saturday, especially for such a young team. Not sure how they didnt do better in Rock Hill.

There were some really tight games this weekend. It looks as if Taylor and Alley from the Dazzle are well on their way back from off season shoulder surgery. Both pitched strong against a very good hitting Crush team (are they really 14U?). Taylor in the noon game and Alley in the late game.

Yes Crush is really a 14u team playing up cause of 2 of their players that couldn't remain at 14u. One was a pitcher who was injured and the other is the second basemen. They are the only 2 that has to play 16u. 3 of their 4 pitchers for this weekend are only rising freshman. The other is a rising sophomore. They have a lot of talent.

    Mudslingers / Orange Crush

From what I remember of my conversation with a Orange Crush mom they were planning on playing 16u this year becasue of 1 or 2 girls that aged up, all of the others were just out of middle school or just started High. The two older girls had gotten hurt so they were playing some 14u and 16u. I found their web site and it mentions several injuries that the team has had this year. Dont know if the older girls are back playing with them now or not but at least one of the injuries seemed to be a year ending injury (ACL). No matter what age they were they hit the ball hard the couple of times I saw them.

When will the Mudlsingers be playing again????

:scooter: We'll be in Huntersville the 4th & 5th of August. Thanks for coming out to watch us play. Sure was great to put a face on Cheese 105. Thanks for bringing the bats. I'll have to tell you sometime the fun we had with our two resident blondes, Sam & Morgan concerning their "new bats'.Wish we could have finished better, but there was some good teams & we didn't perform as well as we could have in a couple of games.

Everybody come out and watch us play at Hunterville this weekend. We really have had some HARD practices this week and hope the hard work will pay off. But whether we win or lose it's all about having fun. I wish to thank Bart and Mike and all the other dads who pitch in to help with these girls. And a big THANKS to Kelly for getting the drinks.:clover:
