Jose Canseco can just shut the heck up(I would have used worse but considering this is a family friendly message board, I went with with heck). This guy just looks for reasons to get his name out there. He is trying to accuse everybody that plays baseball that they are on roids. This guy needs to be put on an island by himself and never spoken to again. I'm just tired of him and making accusations against everybody in baseball.

Every time somebody does something amazing in baseball he wants to publish a book saying that they took roids.

If anybody else has a rant involving baseabll, then lets hear it....but no calling people out or anything like that

I agree that Canseco is a glory hound that can't deal with the fact that he is irrelevent. However, that doesn't mean that all those guys didn't take steroids. I beleive that virtually 100% of the Latino players and many, many others during that period were taking them. Just my opinion based on visual evidence and the mockery of the record book they have made.

Agree that he is just trying to attract attention to himself. Not sure people take him seriously anymore. He had his moment in the sun.

    100% of Latino's took steroids? :189:

I believe this is the dirty little secret that MLB will never discuss but how they ended up with close to 50% Latino players. Hell, I'd take them if they were the only way me and my family could get out of some those places.

    In short

I am so sick of hearing about steroids. I have never understood why this has become such a surprise to anyone that has ever been involved with sports. It sickens me to listen night after night about how these players have cheated the game- BULL.

The fans and the media have created this mess that we are forced to listen to. The media has never considered a guy a "legitimate player" unless he is blasting homeruns & putting up quality numbers; RBI's etc
The game has changed over the years with the tremendous media coverage. In the 1970's you were lucky to catch Joe Garagiola for the Saturday game of the week. The only baseball game to be broadcast.
Now we can watch teams from all across the country any night/ day of the week. The media and the money have turned these players into instant icons that we worship. Owners want to put players on the field that will put butts in the seats. When we all go to a major league baseball game, we are there to see these high priced players park it in the stands, not a pitching duel. It has now become expected for a player to hit 25- 40 homeruns per year, or he will be replaced. Players have made choices to make themselves stronger, faster, because we (THE FANS), and the media have demanded that.

Each player makes his own choice to use/not use steroids. Personally I am totally against steroids as I watched football players & body builders dynamic use of steroids in the 70's & 80's, and the repercussions that followed. We had pictures of Lyle Alzado (lying in his coffin) in our weight room to remind everyone of the dangers of steroids. But that did not stop guys from using.

I would like for people to stop saying that these steroid users cheated the game. Thes players are just entertainers providing the fans, the owners, and the media what they demand: Monster homeruns, and record breakers. As far as records: whether or not Barry B or any other player was using steroids during the big swing era, they still had to have the freakish ability to hit.

To end this: Yes I would like to see steroids out of baseball, but the sad reality is that this is just part of the evolution. Steroids will be replaced by another chemical and then another. All of this brought about by ego and the all mighty dollar.

I know that I will get slammed for this... so bring it on.:189:

I hate to see steriods in any sport(even Pro Wrestling, if you chose to call it a sport)as much as anybody, but bbrksfan pretty much hit the nail on the head. There are a lot of pressures put on todays professional atheletes, the fans, the media, their bosses(maybe more so in the past), and even themselves.
I was watching 'Bob Costas Now' on HBO just yesterday and his panel of Gary Carter, Ozzie Smith, Chris Rock, and himself were having a discussion on this very subject. Chris Rock offered up probably the best reason for it's use when he said, "If one of your co-workers was taking a pill that allowed him to make millions of dollars more than you while doing the same job, would you take the pill??? An interesting thought.........

What about the ones that dont?

What about the kids that decide to not use? How about not wanting to cheat? What about the guys that believe that its just not right to cheat? Then they have to compete against guys that do cheat. Im sorry people are tired of hearing about people cheating. But Im not willing to put my head in the sand and just accept the fact that people are going to cheat and we should just shut up about it and let it go. When I was in college back in the late 70's early 80's I played football. Several of my team mates used. I refused to to it. I could not cheat. It was wrong and I was not going to do it. I really dont care who created what or who is responsible for creating the environment. If its wrong it is wrong. To some it is just entertainment. But to me it is a game and a passion that I love. And anything that cheats the game is cheating me. And I dont like it and I will never accept it regardless of what others say.
