Moose, I didn't read UK7Dook3 comments as trying to offend anyone...We can all probably agree that all the Teams in the State Tournament deserve to be there...they won the games they needed to win to get themselves there...but we should also agree that the "Best Teams" might not always get to the "Big Show".

As UK7Dook3 said: "Baseball is a funny game". If your team get's hot at the right time that might be enough to take you all the way.

One game is not going to win the State (unless the rain keeps coming)...it will be interesting to see who "Stays Hot" the rest of the way.:twocents:

    Caldwell Fans

    UK7Dook3,

Not all Caldwell fans are like that. Some get carried away, because they love their baseball. The bottles have pennies in them and have been around since 2000 when I played. There is nothing wrong with them. Good Luck to all teams!

Keep in mind that fans are like members of political parties. There's no way to keep someone from following a certain team or becoming a Democrat or Republican or whatnot. I certainly don't think someone from another party speaks for everyone in that group.

Pitt is the real deal, as someone said. We played them once this season because of a rainout, and they beat us 10-2 at our place. They are loaded with players who have won state titles. That's the first time since 1989 we haven't beaten them in a season. And the best thing is that Pitt knocked Garner out of the postseason, but I won't get into that can of worms again.

We - Wayne County - brought a 32-6 record into the first state tournament and were thinking we could win it. Not cocky, just confident. We were lucky to win one game. We had swept Wilmington in the regular season, but they unloaded on us in the final game. It's all about timing. You can't go cold at the wrong time.

I am sure the Caldwell partisans are wondering what the heck happened.

Shelby Loss - Another screw up by Legion State Comish

It appears that every chance Roy Waters gets to screw Shelby, he finds a way. Once again, he strikes by allowing Shelby Post 82 to lose a five inning game due to rain. Here are the facts. Cherryville / Caldwell game (the game before Shelby) started an hour late because of rain. They played nine innings. During the pre-tournament banquet the players were told that no games would be shortened - that was a lie. The umpires suspend the game due to rain and 1 1/2 hours later after the $400 of qwick dry was put out, the same wimpy umpires say its too late for them - game over. We have a state commissioner who doesn't have the butt to run his job!!! Last year he allowed Garner's illegal player to play through the tournament. How long do we have to allow such incompetance to make such stupid decisions. Does he work for the umpires or do the umpires work for him? Its ridiculous how he constantly tries his best to screw Shelby. Get him out now!! The game should be settled on the field not between the cowardice ears of a wimpy state commissioner.

    Agreed

Cannot agree with you more Burnsdad. State tournament games should not be decided in full. The teams should come back tomorrow and finish game from 5th inning. Good luck to all other teams

At the beginning of the season, we work and practice to get ready for that season. 3 hour practices coming off of a high school or college season and for post 82 players to start a even longer and very tough schedule, to get to the point were legion baseball is right now. The State Championships. Which is in the hands of a absent minded State commissioner (that just like burnsdad said) that finds every way possible to screw Shelby. We were told that no games will be cancelled. We dont have a curfew so we can play no matter what time it is, but good ole Roy Waters doesnt have the balls to tell the umpires that they are finishing the game and we get a fair chance. I dont even see the point of the season if you do what your supposed to do do get to the states and you just get screwed over by a idiot commisioner. I just dont see how this can happen in a American Legion State tournament.

The game was at a 2 hour delay and the field was far from being ready to play on. There was a game to follow. Weather is a apart of the game, unfortunately too much so this weekend. I also wonder.......Why is it when a call or decision is made not in favor of a team it's a sudden conspiriciy? It is my understanding that the commisioner made every effort to keep the game from being halted, going as far to apply pressure to the umps.
