:xyzthumbs Wow! what a game in Concord tonight. I think it probably was the game of the century. With Hillcrest leading 5-0 at the end of the 4th inning, Haley Scism came in, in relief of starting pitcher Gina Allen. That may have been what CC needed to turn the game around. Hillcrest was only able to score 1 unearned run on Haley the remainder of the game. CC scored 3 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 7th to tie the game. CC scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. Rock solid defense, and key hits when they needed them earned CC the win tonite. Congratulations ladies, and congratulations Haley on the big win. I am very happy for you and all the players and coaches at CC. Most exciting game I think I have ever seen.

WOW! What a game! I am still amassed at the fight the Central Cabarrus team showed tonight. I don't think I'll ever need to sese the Yanks and the Red Sox because I saw two great softball teams meet and pass the intensity those two teams play with. If you did not make this game you should send and apology to both schools. If you made it you need to send a thank you card.
Pouliet was great early but the Lady Vikings adjusted and hit her probabbly harder than she has been hit in a while :applause: . Scism came in and pitched great and CC proved that hard work and the heart of a champion pays off.
    Again what a game!

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND HER TROOPS :medal:

    The best

This was the very best fastpitch game I have ever seen. Their were so many pressure packed situations, with a flair for the dramatic. I still cannot believe this game. Ask anyone who was there, all will say it was the best HS game they have ever witnessed. Central's bats killed the ball on one of the top pitcers in the SE. No just one player can hit, but throughot their lineup. Homerun, you have seen alot of games. Seen any better?

Not one game but two back to back State finals on a hot day
Todays game was exciting but due to errows by both teams I consider the following better games.

NEW HANOVER OUTLASTS ALEXANDER IN 15 INNINGS TO WIN NCHSAA 4-A STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Casey Watkins banged out a single with one out in the 15th inning to score Cathy Stauffer with the
winning run as Wilmington New Hanover earned the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A fast-pitch softball championship, edging Alexander Central 1-0 on a hot Saturday afternoon at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

The base hit ended a classic pitching dual between each team's ace, Erica Ennis for New Hanover and Jessica Hefner for Alexander. Ennis, a junior righthander, was named the Most Valuable Player in the state championship as she earned all three pitching victories for the Wildcats and yielded just one run. She fanned 16 in the championship game to bring her strikeout total over the two days to 43.

New Hanover, which lost a 1-0 decision in the '99 state title game to Charlotte Independence, finished the season with a 25-4 mark while Alexander ended at 25-8. New Hanover had blanked Alexander Central 2-0 in the winners' bracket final Friday night to move into the championship game.

Alexander Central, third in last year's tournament, had to play the equivalent of more than four games on Saturday due to extra innings. The Cougars had stayed alive by dealing defending state champ Charlotte Independence its second loss in the tournament in Saturday morning's elimination game.

The Cougars outlasted Independence 2-0 in another 15-inning marathon, after beating Independence 8-2 in Friday night's opener. Both sophomore Jessica Hefner of Alexander and freshman Melanie Lewis of Independence hurled 14 innings of scoreless ball, but the Cougars broke through with a couple of unearned runs in the 15th on an throwing error.

Independence closed its season with a 19-8 mark.
