Our coach mentioned that the number of teams may expand this year. Is that being considered?

It will continue to be 32 teams per classification.

Bags wants me to wait until we get closer to the convention before I post details...but I promise it will be well attended and I hope we can get some parents to join up as well. The membership is very important. It will help determine the direction HS baseball may go in the future. Believe me when i say that HS baseball is not high on the totem pole with the NCHSAA...we need a BIG voice!

    Playoffs

Our AD was informed recently that right now the push is for 48 teams this year. The whole thing about non conference records being part of selection to the playoffs stinks quite frankly. We have struggled for years getting teams from higher classifications to play us. We try to schedule up so we can get quality competition to prepare us. This year it has been ridiculous. Several of the teams we finally got on the schedule were the ones in our situation. No one wanted to play them so we are all playing each other. There is no doubt that you will have weak teams playing even weaker non con competition in order to qualify for the playoffs. Then you will have the quality team in the tough conference that will also schedule tough teams non conf and not make the playoffs. How is that fair? As far as 2 out of 3 in every round I just put that out there because I feel that this is only fair. Not that I think it will every get done. You play all year to get to the playoffs I would like to see it for the sake of the process of getting the best overall team and not the team with the best #1 starter. We have been helped by one and done before and we have gone down before as well. JMHO

I agree with you totally... It really bothers me that teams will do that, but it is happening. You guys will be good this year, I looked at this when I scheduled, I decided to schedule the teams I normally schedule, then let the chips fall where they may.

There was talk at the NCCA clinic about going to 48 teams, granting 3 spots to big conferences and then filling the rest with wildcards. Until we get more membership in the NCBCA, then we will not have as large a voice in the NCHSAA.
