We do it once a game and have been doing it since we got here. We still have coaches and players complaining that once the "ball gets in the circle" you can't run. NJCAA rule book (suppose to be a copy of NCAA)says 3 feet, doesn't mention anything about turning left or right. Now we have had umpires tell us that NCAA or ASA book will tell you turn around to the left.

I have also updated stats for NC grads playing for us on next level.

Now one for you to answer.

Runners on 1st and 3rd. Runner on 1st delays to second ball go immediately to pitcher. Pitcher turns to face runner going to second(no attempt to make play) when runner gets to second pitcher turns and faces the runner at 3rd who is about 3 foot off the bag and heads back to 3rd, this all takes about 5 seconds. What is ruling?

    Runner on third is out...if...

The ruling should be that the runner on third is out if the pitcher never showed an attempt to throw to second or left the circle. The runner at third came off the bag on the pitch, but has to go one way or the other as soon as the pitcher gets the ball back in the circle. The pitcher looking at one runner or the other does not come into play unless she makes an attempt to throw or some other faking motion with her shoulders or head. Runner at third cannot stand still off of the bag while the ball is in the circle.

    Chipola....you've just given away.....

.....one of my secret plays! And one that works in your favor, ( defense ), seeing the offense get themselves out is sweet.

We have used it successfully also. Better against aggressive teams, because their runners always try to get a step to the plate.

    Heres another.

Runner on 3rd, pitch is made ball is returned to the circle with runner on bag. Catcher goes to mound without asking for time. Runner runs. Whats the proper call, what usually gets called?

    Proper vs. what

Proper ruling is runner is out because time was never asked for and the ball is in the circle while the runner is on the bag.

What is usually called is runner goes, umpire misses it because they are not paying attention, defensive coach goes nuts, home plate umpire covers his own butt by saying that he had time when the catcher went to the mound.
