CCS 12 FCDS 0 in 5 innings. The key is that the Knights put away the 8 seed early on Senior Night and saved their arms for the weekend.

Nothing would make me happier than to know the results from the other 3 first round games!!!

    Friday results

In the first semi-final game Charlotte Christian beat Wesleyan Academy 3-0 behind the pitching of Bryant Gaines.

In the other semi-final match-up, CCDS put down PDS 8-3 behind the strong pitching of J Coker. T Davis poked a 3 run HR and D Whitman added a solo shot as the Bucs climbed to an 8-1 lead and never seemed threatened.

In the first game of the best out of 3 championship series, Patrick McNair faced off against the Bucs D Whitman. McNair recorded one of his best outings of the year posting the "W". J Bard went 3-3 , K Fulginiti 2-4 but the big hit of the night was a towering 2 run HR by Chase Martin in the 6th giving the Knights some needed breathing room with a 4-1 lead. Final score 5-2.

    Next game Saturday 1PM

In game one of the championship series, Patrick McNair pitched the best game I have ever seen him throw. He was extremely efficient and might have thrown less than 75 pitches in a complete game effort. This game was very fast paced and only lasted about an hour and a half.

Chase Martin's homer was truly a moonshot blast that cleared the middle lane of Sardis Rd.

Tomorrow's game(s) will be very emotional and exciting between Country Day and Charlotte Christian to decide the State Championship.

    Good luck to both teams!

    Knights Take 5th Straight

CCS took its 5th consecutive 3A crown defeating a scrappy and well coached Charlotte Country Day School 11-3 behind the pitching of J Bard. The visiting Knights jumped out early and never looked back. The bats were alive with M Fulginiti 3-5, J Bard 2-3 3RBI, K Fulginiti 2-3 2RBI, C Martin 1-3 2B 2 RBI. The long ball this day however, belonged to C Hicks and D Whitman who each blasted HRs for CCDS.

Overall, the tournament was best attended and best run tournament of the past three years. Hopefully, the series will return to Charlotte more often in future years.

With expectations high going into the season, CCS did not disappointment setting several team records: most wins in a single season (32), most players to sign NLOI in a single season (7) and most hits in a single season (62-M Fulginiti) along with winning the March Madness Tournament in Ft Lauderdale, the Shelby Easter Tournament and of course its 5th consecutive 3A NCISAA title.

Congratulations to the Knights. That is an awesome record!!!!. Special congrats goes to Max Fulginiti (62 hits in a season)...WOW...many don't have that in their career.

Btw, as I was traveling down Sardis Rd, a ball landed in my front window. Who did you say hit the HR?......:D

and Cory Hicks? It seems he has been in HS for 10 years...just kidding Cory :D:D Congratulations to Country Day as well :satana:
