Here is the “Player & Pitcher of the Year Watch List” from your favorite son Andy Patin. http://www.impactbaseball.com/news_detail.asp?NewsID=330

Please tell my why Kevin Brandt of Fuquay Varina HS is not on this list. He broke 3 Single Season Batting Records:
    Hits 48 (previous record 41)
    BA .533 (previous record .526)
    RBIs 39 (previous record 38)
Plus 16 doubles (tops in the Raleigh area)
2 triples (tied for 1st in the Raleigh)
8 HRs (2nd in the Raleigh area)

He also pitches and had a 4-2 (as the ace on the staff)
With 87 Ks in 52 innings
    A 1.21 ERA
    1 No-Hitter
    1 1-Hitter

Compare these numbers to Tyler Hanover, the Gatorade NC Player of the Year.
I don’t mean any disrespect to Tyler, I’m sure he’s a very deserving player, but I don’t see where his stats compare to Kevin's.

During the season I asked Andy to include Kevin on his “Top Prospect List” when Kevin had just thrown a 1-Hitter and a No-Hitter and had a .34 ERA and was batting .605.

His response was “I haven’t seen him play.” My question was “What do you need to see with this record from a player on a team that 3 or 4 years earlier won the Div 4 State Championship?

I guess the answer is, and I’ve heard it from almost everybody I talk to about IMPACT Baseball, “If you don’t PAY to be a “DIRT BAG” you don’t get promoted on their website.”

By the way Andy, Kevin was just named the Player of the Year in the Tri-8 Conference where 2 of the players on your “Watch List” play, those being Cameron Conner and Cory Thompson. And if you care to compare his stats, you’ll see that Kevin topped 5 of your 10 categories and was tied for 1 other with the 10 players you listed “To Watch.”

If you want to be a true promoter of ball players in NC do it responsibly and you may enhance your business.

Conny Mackeral, one of the better posts I've read on this forum.

This is why people have complaints about Impact Baseball. Instances just like that. This kid hasnt paid to be a Dirtbag so Impact will not promote him as being one of North Carolina's best players.

Best of luck to this deserving young man and hopefully he will continue to receive recognition from sources other than Impact that are unbiased.

If you have a problem with Andy Partin, take it up with him. Don't bring your personal agendas to TBR.

I have no problem with mentioning names of deserving players, listing their stats or anything else that's positive about the player. But I will not tolerate the constant attacking of an individual that does more for players in this state in one year than most of you have done in your lifetime.

If you don't like what Andy does....simple...do what he did...start your own.

To me it's not Andy Partin, it's just Impact Baseball as a whole. My post didn't include Andy's name at all. It's not just him who's responsible for what Impact has become, both positively and negatively.

Brandt is a great player and I can understand why you and others feel he could/should be on this list. You contradict yourself however as neither Thompson or Connor is a "DIRTBAG" as both play for the Carolina Cubs. Somehow, although they are not on a "DIRTBAG" team, they are on the watch list.

Once again, I agree Brandt should be on the list based on his stats, but when you are limiting the list to the best 10 players in the state there will be great players left off the list. If you don't like Mr. Partin's list don't look at it. Make your own and post it. Partin is certainly entilted to his opinion as are you.

Mr. Partin does a great job and knows as much about the high school players in NC as anyone. He has earned a reputation for being able to find the best players in the state and there are many scouts and coaches that visit his website and showcases to check on the players he is able to cover.

Like Partin and Impact or not, but the facts are he can't make everyone happy. The facts are that he has done a great job of promoting hs players to college and pro scouts. The facts are also that he is in charge of his website and can but any player he wants on his watch list. Noone has to go to his website and see what he thinks. AND at the same time anyone is free to bring up questions about how things are done, as long is there is no slander and facts to back up the issues. I digress, but is America great?

Again, kind of contradictory there. You say that nobody has to read Andy's site if they don't like what it says, but at the same time Andy and his supporters don't have to read this thread if they don't like what Connie Mackeral has to say. Just my 2 cents.

I do....and my reply was not directed towards you. All I ask if you have a problem with Andy or his organization take it up with him. I don't want to use my board for someone elses personal dislike.

OK, and I respect that. This is your board just like Impact is Andy's site. Perhaps Connie Mackeral really was simply attacking Andy personally and if that's the case, you're more than justified to stop him. I agree with what he said about how lots of people you talk to around the state realize how biased Impact is towards Dirtbag players, so I was with him on that, but I just don't think you can single Andy out as the only source of error.

He obviously started the site with the goal of helping youth baseball players in mind. He's done that, and has helped countless kids along the way. It just gets to a certain point where fans who are outside of the Impact inner circle get irritated when their players have dominate seasons and don't get the same recognition as these guys that are hyped up by Impact.

There are obviously plenty of positives that go along with the negatives about Impact Baseball, and they get mentioned all the time. Maybe Connie's post was a little extreme, but for me personally I'm not really bashing or criticizing Impact baseball, more just critiquing it. It may be out of my place to do either one.
