The NCAA Division III World Series, hosted by Peace College and Head Coach Charlie Dobbins, will be held May 19-23 at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh. If you did not get a chance to see this terrific exhibit of high quality softball last year, take the time to see how good DIII softball can really be. Be sure to take your players and kids early enough to watch the teams during pre-game warm-ups. It's a great lesson in hustle, efficiency and hard work, not to mention fun. The seven-team first rounds will be held May 11-14 on the campuses of competing institutions. Ron Simpson's Methodist Monarchs appear to have a solid shot at being there, although his team will have to get past Salisbury, which is traditionally a great program and played in the national title game last year with a freshman pitcher in the circle, and multiple WS winner Moravian. Should be fun to keep up with and see who survives in Raleigh. DIII gets a bum rap, but what you will see in Raleigh will make you think again if not change your mind altogether about that level of ball. (Regional teams are in bold.)

    DIII Playoffs

You can be sure there will be some great games in RDU 5/19-5/21.My DD just finished freshman year at E&H which is in ODAC with Roanoke, and played against Emory U and Piedmont while on spring break in Ga.It will be great to see the winners of these regionals in RDU go at it for title.
