    South Carolina 12 East Carolina 2

    I thought the key to the game was ECU left 12 men on base & could never get the key hit. South Carolina on the other hand , blew open a close game late & poured it on! Enjoyed sitting in the jungle in center field. Pirate fans were letting SC centerfielder Merrifield have it! South Carolina is going to be a tough team to beat twice! South Carolina pounded out 17 hits, & got 2 home runs apiece from Justin Dalles(7 Rbi's) & Adam Matthews. Blake Cooper pitched a complete game despite giving up 14 hits.

    Must be a lot of mourning in GVegas tonight...I hope everybody is ok!

    But I gotta give a shout out to my Gamecocks!!!...and Merrifield is terrific. There is nothing he hasn't faced with the crowds in the SEC. And the fans of USC will feel like Greenville is a second home--they speak the same language

    I took in the Rose loss to Sanderson 5-3, & the Pirate loss to South Carolina 12-2!

    There is no joy in GVegas tonight!

    BC & Tx go to the 17th tied.

    BC only has 5 hits but Tx has 3 errors.

    Texas wins in the 25th inning!


    A couple of things about the ECU/SC game. The Pirates left 12 runners on through 5 innings, including the bases loaded in the 3,4 and 5th. When Coach Godwin pulled his starter after SC went up 6-0 in the 6th he went to the back end of his bull pen, thus the score balloned. He wisely saved his top relievers knowing that he has to win 3 games in 2 days to win the regional. You know it isn't your day when with 2 strikes a batter steps out while asking for a time out as the pitcher is starting his delivery and after stepping out and not getting time, in one motion steps back in the box and swings, as the pitch is being delivered, and his a 3 run bomb to go up 6-0.
