Those idiots announced Northwood would be in the playoffs in the 2A East as a Wild Card and then changed it this morning and took them out. That's just wrong.

    PITCHING

Who in the 4A bracket has the best balance of pitching: 1) starter depth (how many arms do they have, 2) ability (can this teams #3 beat most team's #1's) 3) experience (all around) and 4) wildcard (what's lurking in the bullpen under the radar).

How about a total score 1-5 for each characteristic, 5 is the absolute best (ability=5... 3 top D1/pro prospects), 1 is the worst (I don't see how you could get a 1 and be in the tournament).

I'm a little familiar with these guys so I'll get it started:

    S Meck @ 15.5:

starter depth: 4.5 (starters Andruss, Layman, Morris)
ability: 4 (I think their ability is better than the record)
experience: 4 (tough SW4A and summer & fall winning vs national caliber talent)
wildcard: 3 (don't know of anyone under the radar in the bullpen)

    team you know best:

    depth: ?
    ability: ?
    experience: ?
    wildcard: ?

    Scotland County
depth: 5 (Patterson, Lowery, Oxendine, Bangs all outstanding)
ability: 4 (all are capable of shutting down the other team)
experience: 4 (all have pitched big games for years)
    wildcard: don't need anyone else

    Lumberton
depth: 2 (Read and Britt only two reliable pitchers)
abiliity: 4 (both are lefties and both can be terrific)
experience: 3 (Read is as experieced as they come but young after that)
wildcard: 3 soph Thompson could eat up some innings

    Pinecrest:
depth: 3 (Shinn and Maness are it)
ability: 3.5 (Maness is great, Shinn is adequate)
experience: 3 (one playoff game last year)
wildcard: no one else will pitch

    South View:
depth: 2 (Willis and not much else)
ability: 3 (Willis is a top line starter but very average after)
    experience: 1
    wildcard: ?

    Cape Fear:
depth: 3 (several decent arms but no great ones)
ability: 2 (no one stands out)
    experience: 1
    wildcard: ?

    Riverside and Chapel Hill

THese 2 PAC-6 Teams are two that could do very well in the playoffs:

Riverside - Can mash it and have outstanding pitching in Justin Duncan (Who is the most improved player I have seen in several years, based on progression from last year to this year. Matt Toffaletti gives another quality starter and their bullpen is solid.

Chapel Hill - Aggressive team that makes you work on defense. They pressure the D well. Very good pitching in LHP Tarron Robinson (6-3, 1.20 ERA, 20 of 3 losses to Riverside where he gave up 1 ER in Both games combined). Andrew Kennedy (6-0) has been very effective also.

    lets hear it coach:

Your view of the pitching: 1) starter depth (how many arms do they have, 2) ability (can this teams #3 beat most team's #1's) 3) experience (all around) and 4) wildcard (what's lurking in the bullpen under the radar).

Score 1-5 for each characteristic, 5 is the absolute best (ability=5... 3 top D1/pro prospects), 1 is the worst (I don't see how you could get a 1 and be in the tournament).

This is what I see based on my observations. Dont know how this qualifies with what you're asking, but if there are any 5's out there based on what you're asking, I would like to see them. Offense makes up for deficiencies for either team, Riverside more so than CHHS, because Riverside is more powerful. However, CHHS manufactures runs better IMHO, which will make them dangerous.

    Riverside = 3.5

starter depth: 3 [2 main starters are excellent, Duncan better than Tofaletti IMHO. Saw Duncan twice and did not see Toffaletti this season, but he had a good year.

ability: 4- Both Duncan and Toffaletti legitimate prospects. IMHO Duncan is the best unsigned pitcher in this area, somebody needs to pick him up soon... a steal!!

experience: 4- Both Duncan and Toffaletti have pitched in big games over the past 2 seasons.

wildcard: 3 Solid Bullpen, not overpowering, but solid

    Chapel Hill = 3.5

starter depth: 3 Robinson solid for the past 2 years, lives on the outside, Kennedy is solid arm. Marbry out of the pen is very solid

ability: 3 Robinson ia all about changing speeds and location, location, location. Excellent mound presence. Kennedy solid (Did not see him this year)

experience: 4 Robinson has pitched in many big games for Chapel Hill over the past 2 years...

wildcard: 4 Solid pen led by Marbry and other set-up guys that Coach Miller will interchange when needed.
