Found an interesting article online about monies raised for this organization and their purpose - http://www.charlotte.com/breaking_news/story/670176.html.

I'm not really sure I knew the purpose of this organization, but it sounds like others finally are asking. Sure would be nice to see some more of the money flowing back to the schools.

Very easy to see. Eat steak and throw the schools the bone. I am not saying let's open the checkbook. I'm sure that they could empty in in a second. But, help address some of the problems. Do not just set back and wait on doomsday.

Wow....I'm also surprised they were able to find actual figures. There are so many things wrong reading this article. Forced catastrophic insurance? Unbelievable! And I thought the "Houses" in Vegas were stacked with favorable odds.

I agree with Braves on catastrophic insurance. My DD was hurt playing basketball in HS, the bills totales over $45,000 and the catatrophic ins. payed almost nothing. We were left paying the bills while the school and the state made money off the game. Gaston Co. flat sucks when it comes to paying for students injuries. They turn their back on you. I wish everyone that has had a child hurt playing HS sports would list the cost of injury and just how much the school ins. paid. I'll bet the parents were left holding the bag while the school charged money to get in to watch the athlete perform for them. Think about this, alot of the seniors are 18 playing sports, if they are not covered by ins. and get injured playing sports in HS, then they count on the school ins. to pay. After 18 they are responsible for the bills. Gaston Co. and the state don't care. I am proof of that.
