    St. Stephens 8 Maiden 0

    WP - Jason McEachern (2-0) - 6 2/3 Innings, 17 strikeouts, 0 Hits, 0 walks, 1 HBP
    LP - Cadyn Laffon

    Saint Leading Hitters
    Brian Litwin - 2-2, 2 singles, 2 runs, 1 RBI
    Bradley Canipe - 2-4, 2 singles, 1 run, 1 RBI
    Andrew Benton - 2-4, 2 singles, 1 run, 2 RBI
    Brandon Martin - 2-2, 2 singles, 1 run

Jason McEachern came within one pitch of a perfect game. Full count...2 outs...bottom 7...Maiden's Justin Sizemore (there best player/hitter btw) at the plate...hit by pitch. McEachern cruised through the Blue Devil order striking out 17, otherwise giving up 2 groundouts to 2B and one that he took care of himself. Ryan Gant came on to get the final out (strikeout) to preserve the NO-hitter.

Saint improves to 3-1, 3-0 in the CVAC and heads to Bandys tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 to face the Trojans. Maiden drops to 2-3, 1-2 in the CVAC.

Any other CVAC highlights from last night????

He was getting up there on a cool night plus the sophomore who finished hasn't seen the mound in 2 weeks and he's probably starting this friday.

Probably would've come out sooner had he not had the perfect game going. Jason was exerting so much energy because he knew what was going on, and when he hit Sizemore you could tell he was spent. He didn't put up much of a fight. Plus it was really nice to get him an ovation as he walked off. Both sets of fans were very appreciative of what they had seen.

    St. Stephens at Maiden 8-0

Congrats to Jason McEachern for his fine performance last night. He cut down the Maiden lineup like a hot knife cutting through cold butter. I have seen no hitters pitched before, but never a perfect game; and this one was just one pitch away; one mistake. Good game Jason and good luck in the future, you should have one at the next level. Maiden plays tomorrow night at Bunker Hill Bears...7:00 pm.
