With the new legislation about charging out of state athletes out of state tuition, what are your thoughts on how this will affect recruiting at the state supported schools?

depends on how the $ is set up.
if the team has a set amount of $ then out of state player costs more than in state and you get fewer full rides.
if the team has so many full rides regardless of $s then it wont matter.

the NCAA limits the number of full scholarships a team can have. that # wont change.

good news - in state schools will do more in state recruiting.

Very few, if any, full rides. Coaches spread the scholarships across many players on the team. Regardless how many scholarships (some aren't fully funded), they have a pool of money to work with (each school will be different) and then they decide how to spend it. They want the most bang for their buck.

Talent is just one side of the recruiting coin...grades are just as important. The better the grades, the more attractive (no pun intended) you are.

Every year I hear some parents complain why one DD is at State U and their DD is not. They swear their DD is the better player, but it never occurred to them the player at State U is also an honor student with academic grants far surpassing any athletic money offered.

Getting back to GMan's topic; it's only natural that the opportunities for NC DD's has gotten better. Whether it gets taken advantage of is the question.
