I would bet on someone with no NC ties at all. Why do NC schools not go after NC players/coaches as much? State, Carolina and Wilmington usually are pretty good about it and they are probably the three toughest.

In order to try to regain some credibility, they will have to aim for an up and coming Mid-Major head coach ..... and then give him the authority to fix what he was left with.

...It would be a possibility of grabbing an Assistant out of the SEC/ACC, but I believe they need someone with head coaching experience.

I agree..it would have to be a mid-major HC or an assistant from ACC-SEC. Quite honestly, in my opinion, it's a graveyard for coaches.

Toman has the credentials and comes from the requisite "Winning Tradition" that you need in a new Head Coach. He's done great at South Carolina.

    RECRUITING QUESTION??

How does the change of a coach affect the recruiting process for the college in question? Do they look at whats already interested, start all over, should a prospect re-apply there info?? Just wondering?

If you have signed an NLI, you are fine (for a year). That's a commitment between the college and a player, not a coach and a player.

..... but coaching changes can be tough on a program. A new head coach came into Kentucky (this was his 2 season) and cleaned house last spring. He basically let the entire team go, keeping only a hand-ful of players while he went out and recruited his "own guys". His signing class was reportedly a "Top-25" class last year ... he went from 24-30 record in his first campaign with his "inherited players" to a 29-27 record this second year.

.... part of this is probably from the expectations of playing and not being competitive in the always tough SEC. If you are replacing a coach in an established program that hasn't had a major "dip", then the actions of the incoming coach may be different.

.... if the "marching orders" from Duke to the new head coach are to make the program competitive in the 'shortest available timeframe' it could get ugly for a season.
