If you were being recruited, followed, or were just very interested in a program that turns over it's coaching staff, you must pretty well start over with that program, even if you have attended summer camps there.

... the incoming coach will be more familiar with players from other parts of the country (or state). The "reports" that a school has on players that have attended summer camps will still be there, but there won't be any "eyes on" experience that gives weight to what they have seen.

    Tough situation.

Toman is going to be the head man down at USC soon... I would imagine that Tanner will take over the AD reigns sometime in the near future and Toman will step up...

I doubt that will ever happen...USC just hired a new AD that takes over this summer.
Tanner is a great baseball coach but i dont think he has the education or the smarts to be a Major D-1 A.D.

Eric Hyman is the new AD at USC..he was at Texas Christian U. for 8 years.
    He will begin July1.
Tanner wants to continue to lead the USC baseball team to a CWS national championship and see his vision of the new baseball facility completed.

Great point ... and Tanner has been known for aiding in placing his assistants in Head Coaching positions. Toman would be a great choice for the position.

If you are looking at Ivy guys, which isn't un-reasonable, given Duke's academics.

Scott Bradley at Princeton has ties to NC, being a graduate of Carolina. He's a great baseball man.

Joe Walsh from Harvard doesn't have any southeastern ties, but he would bring valuable ties from his coaching experience in the Cape Cod league.

Any of these 3 men would be great additions at Duke. If you couldn't get Toman, who I think would be great, then I'd really try to get Bradley.

Joe Walsh would be super for Duke's program. In addition to being a good coach, he's a really nice guy. Without the constraints of the Ivy League he could assemble a great team, especially here in a state with so many strong players to choose from. Unfortunately, he sounds like he's born and raised in Boston and those guys get the "heebie-jeebies" coming so far south. It would be "Cultcha shawk" for him, but quite a boon to Duke baseball.
